The Wallis inaugurates their new pop-up performance space on the Promenade Terrace for live audiences with the world premiere of Tom Dugan’s TEVYE IN NEW YORK! June 23, 2021. Tom co-directs (with Michael Vale) his one-man show on the well-known musical theatre lead character of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF. Tom managed to find time amongst his many, many writing projects to answer a few of my enquiries.

With a powerful new production of Becoming Dr. Ruth now available for streaming, BroadwayWorld had the chance to sit down with playwright Mark St. Germain, actress Tovah Feldshuh who is taking on the one-woman show, and the title character herself, Dr. Ruth.

If you had asked me about Dr. Ruth before I watched BECOMING DR. RUTH I would have vague memories of an older lady with an accent who used to talk about sex on the radio in the ’90s and early 2000s.  Now, thanks to the stellar performance by Tovah Feldshuh in the play now streaming from North Coast Repertory Theatre, I have learned so much about Dr. Ruth’s extraordinary life.

Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts has announced the 2021 Mainstage production Becoming Dr. Ruth, marking the return to live theater at Bay Street in more than 15 months, is now running through June 27.

The Phoenix Theatre Company’s production is buttressed by a solid technical crew. It’s cohesive enough to support the herculean effort of Ms. Debra K. Stevens, who wields an impressive command of a voluminous text while practically staging a tutorial on how storytelling ought to be paced. She gives us a Dr. Ruth who is warm, funny, and authentic.

Here in America, she is known simply as Dr. Ruth. Her background includes living in five countries, marrying three times and identifying under four names. In a striking solo performance, six-time Tony and Emmy nominee Tovah Feldshuh (Broadway’s Golda’s Balcony), (TV’s “Crazy Ex‑Girlfriend” & “The Walking Dead”), deftly inhabits the warm, wise, witty persona of the beloved media figure.

After nearly 16 months, the Valley's oldest live performance venue, The Phoenix Theatre Company, is excited to welcome audiences back indoors this summer. The 102 season kicks off with the one-woman show, Becoming Dr. Ruth, June 2 through June 27.

Theater J Artistic Director Adam Immerwahr and Managing Director Jojo Ruf have announced two plays as part of the return to live, in-person programming in Fall 2021: Becoming Dr. Ruth and Fires in the Mirror.

Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park today announced the restart of its mainstage season for October 2021. The 2021-22 season will be comprised of eight shows and features world premieres by Keith Josef Adkins, Deborah Zoe Laufer and KJ Sanchez, who brings a spin-off story from her hit Cincinnati King to the Rosenthal Shelterhouse.

Starting from his acquisition of the team in 1979, the docuseries captures Jerry Buss’ remarkable journey to build, sustain and pass on a family-run sports empire. The project will offer a fresh and revealing look inside the legendary “Showtime” era that saw the team win five NBA titles.

Barrington Stage Company has announced casting for the season’s outdoor productions Who Could Ask for Anything More? The Songs of George Gershwin and the world premiere play, Boca, and a line-up of Broadway stars who will perform in concert under a tent at BSC’s Production Center (34 Laurel Street).
