The Dance Rising Collective Presents DANCE RISING: NYC

The Dance Rising Collective, a new collective of artists and administrators created in partnership with Kinesis Project dance theatre, The Field as fiscal sponsor and advised by Lucy Sexton of New Yorkers for Culture & Arts, presents Dance Rising: NYC, a hyper-local dance out across all five boroughs October 1 and 3 from 5:00-5:30pm.

Baryshnikov Arts Center Presents PLAYBAC: Performances From The Archive

Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC), celebrating 15 years in 2020, announces the second installment of PlayBAC, a series of videos from the organization's rich archive of live performances. This digital program offering was launched in April 2020 in response to BAC's temporary closure and cancellation of Spring 2020 season performances due to the COVID-19 health crisis. The series of never-before-seen recordings features multidisciplinary artists from around the globe performing in BAC's theaters and studios. When released, PlayBAC videos are available to watch for free for a limited time only at bacnyc.org/explore. The complete schedule and program details are available at bacnyc.org/playbac.

10HL Announces 2020 Choreographic Commissions

10 Hairy Legs, the male repertory dance company, continues its aggressive commitment to the commissioning of new works and gains first-time rights to perform Brian Brooks' solo I'm Going to Explode, now totaling 14 World Premiere Commissioned Works since our founding in 2012. Three of the four works will debut at the company's New York Season June 27-29 at New York Live Arts; the fourth dèbuting in New York following its World Premiere at Ocean County College's Jay and Linda Grunin Center for the Arts on April 18, 2020. OCC Commissioned the work with support from the Louis Prima Foundation.

10 Hairy Legs Will Join Choreographer Doug Elkins For A World Premiere At The Morris Museum

Live Arts at the Morris Museum presents New Jersey's own dance heroes, 10 Hairy Legs, in Trouble Will Find Me: Remixed, a one-of-a-kind sensory experience Thursday, November 21st through Sunday, November 23rd . 10 Hairy Legs, which celebrates the artistry of the male dancer will join forces with up-from-the-street choreographer Doug Elkins for Trouble Will Find Me: Remixed. This new, new site-specific piece will be staged, fittingly, in the Museum's Main Gallery with the thrilling new exhibition, Aerosol: Graffiti l Street Art l New Jersey l Now as their backdrop.

Acclaimed dancer Kyle Marshall leads his own company, Kyle Marshall Choreography, in its BAM debut as part of Next Wave 2019-the first season by Artistic Director David Binder, in which all artists are making their BAM debuts.

Dance Now Announces Lineup For 2019 Festival Encore, September 26

DANCE NOW announces the lineup for the 2019 Festival ENCORE! The one-night-only performance will feature the 10 choreographers/companies selected by the DANCE NOW producers for having most successfully met the 2019 DANCE NOW Challenge: to create a clear and complete artistic statement in five minutes or less for the specifics of the stage at Joe's Pub. This year's Challenge winner is Nicole Vaughan-Diaz. As the Challenge winner, Vaughan-Diaz will receive a $1,500 stipend and a weeklong creative residency at DANCE NOW Silo on Kirkland Farm in Bucks County, PA. The ENCORE! program will be hosted by Deborah Lohse (aka TruDee).

10 Hairy Legs, the male repertory dance company, opposes any form of discrimination: age / culture / gender / social / racial / religious / etc. We find Ms. Spencer's off-handed remarks about Prince George's pending dance lessons as offensive and shortsighted. We embrace all those who seek to discover their future, their human potential, or their possible profession in ways that are not always approved and / or perceived as acceptable and / or obvious.

Dance Lab New York Partners With The Rockefeller Brothers Fund For A New Collaboration

Dance Lab New York (DLNY) has partnered with the Rockefeller Brothers Fund (RBF) to provide a one-of-a-kind creative experience for an emerging choreographer. The residency will take place at The Pocantico Center in upstate New York this July, allowing the choreographer an opportunity to expand upon a prior week-long residency in June at the DLNY Summer Lab Cycle in the heart of Manhattan.
