Reston Community Players Presents THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE

Raise your skirts and bob your hair, because the toe-tapping flapper frolic Thoroughly Modern Millie is ready to take the stage at Reston Community Players. Based on the 1967 Academy Award-winning film, Thoroughly Modern Millie will transport audiences back to the height of the Jazz Age in New York City in an era when women were first entering the workforce and rewriting the rules of love. Millie will perform at the Reston Community Center April 20-May 12.

Susanna Phillips to Headline Bach Week Benefit Concert at Anderson Chapel, 10/13

Soprano Susanna Phillips, a star of New York's Metropolitan and Chicago's Lyric Opera stages, will headline a concert at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, in Anderson Chapel at North Park University, 5149 N. Spaulding Ave., Chicago, to benefit the spring 2014 Bach Week Festival in Evanston and Chicago.

In their search for their heart's desires, they encounter the inhabitants of Oz: Munchkins, Crows, Trees, Poppies, Winkies, Flying Monkeys, and a few witches, and learn that no matter how far our journeys take us - there's no place like home. Playing at Boulder's Dinner Theatre, The Wizard of Oz runs all summer long, tomorrow, May 18 - August 31, 2013.

Bachtoberfest, the fall fundraiser for the Chicago area's Bach Week Festival, will offer music of J. S. Bach played on a "Cornucopia of Keyboards" - bayan, harmonium, harpsichord, piano, and organ - plus German food and drink from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. tonight, October 7, at Nichols Concert Hall of the Music Institute of Chicago, 1490 Chicago Ave., Evanston.
