Next up on my local artists interview segment is the wonderful Dorothy May - musician, comedian, teaching artist, performer extraordinare who founded The Humour Experiment. The Humour Experiment is a training hub & entertainment centre for Stand-Up Comedians. We are centred around the ethos of hearing all voices express themselves through comedy. Our mission is to bring the good humour revolution to the greater Brisbane area. On Monday, October 31, 2016, Harlem School of the Arts (HSA) hosted its annual gala benefit to support the school's year-round visual and performing arts programming and initiatives. The Harlem School of the Arts (HSA) today announced that its annual gala benefit-hosted to support the organization's year-round visual and performing arts programming and initiatives-will be transformed into a Masquerade Ball held on the evening of Halloween (Monday, October 31st) in the Grand Ballroom at The Plaza Hotel.

Today, the Harlem School of the Arts announced programming for its Fall 2016 Season. Under the leadership of President Eric G. Pryor, the premier arts institution kicks off a dynamic season of more than 15 performances, concerts, exhibitions and events that feature music, dance, theatre and visual arts.

Spectrum Theatre Company presents the first production of its 2016 season: CROWNS: A GOSPEL MUSICAL, by Regina Taylor. The show will run for two weeks at Austin Playhouse beginning today, March 10th to March 20th, Thursday through Sunday of each week, with a bonus performance during the second week on Wednesday, March 16th, 2016. This award winning musical is centered around the story of a Brooklyn bred, street-tough young woman named Yolonda, who journeys to find heritage, culture and the individual within - but not without the help of a group of well-seasoned church women and their colorfully adorned hats.

Eric Owens will begin his tenure as The Mary and James G. Wallach Artist-in-Residence by curating, hosting, and performing in In Their Footsteps: Great African American Singers and Their Legacy, conducted by Thomas Wilkins in his Philharmonic debut.
