To conclude its inaugural season, The New Colony--Chicago's upstart, new works-focused theater company, presents Tupperware: An American Musical Fable. This New Colony production reunites James Asmus, Andrew Hobgood, and Julie Nichols, the award-winning team behind Love is Dead: A NecRomantic Musical Comedy.

On July 13, Noreen Heron Zautcke hosted a party celebrating the former Candlelight Dinner Playhouse, the legendary Chicago theater that closed its doors in 1997 after producing decades of award-winning theater.

Woman's Will, founded in 1998, is the Bay Area's only all female Shakespeare's company. The company will be presenting FREE performances of The Taming of the Shrew in parks throughout the Bay Area.

Wilma Bonet directs Velina Brown (Veronique of the Mounties, Red State), BW Gonzalez (Seeing Double), Ed Holmes (Seeing Double, Making a Killing), Lisa Hori-Garcia (GodFellas, Red State), Adrian Mejia (Red State), and Michael Gene Sullivan (GodFellas, Making a Killing) in this odyssey through the twists and turns of banking bureaucracy and international finance.

An old Southern family desperately clings to tradition in a newly updated version of The Cherry Orchard. Anton Chekhov's poignant comedy, freely adapted by Heidi Helen Davis and Ellen Geer, opens on June 27 on The Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum's outdoor stage in Topanga. Davis directs, and Geer takes on the role of Lubov Andreyevna Ranevsky - 'Lillian Randolph Cunningham' in this adaptation.

This Oregon premiere of a new adaption by Constance Congdon is directed by Glenn Gauer. Performances at Portland Center for the Performing Arts will be in the Dolores Winningstad Theater and will take place Saturday, May 30 - Sunday, June 7, 2009: Tuesday-Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 31 & June 7 at 2:00 p.m.

Celebrated pianist, songwriter, arranger, producer, Crescent City's own Allen Toussaint will be the headliner for Lincoln Center Out of Doors' 'Roots of American Music' concert in Damrosch Park on Saturday, August 22.

Linda Hope joined U.S. Postal Service Governor Katherine C. Tobin today to preview the stamp image depicting Hope's father, iconic entertainer Bob Hope. The ceremony took place during festivities to rename the Ellis Island Research Library to the Bob Hope Memorial Library. The stamp dedication ceremony to commemorate Bob Hope on a First-Class Commemorative stamp will take place May 29 in California on what would have been his 106th birthday. The stamp will be available nationwide that day.
