The forthcoming new production of the musical The Stripper tells the story of police Lieutenant Al Wheeler as he struggles to solve the mystery of the death of wannabe actress Patty Keller. First call was delectable Deadpan Dolores, a strawberry blonde who worked at the Club Extravaganza. She didn't usually keep things under wraps, so what was she hiding? With a nose for crime and an eye for the ladies, Wheeler will do whatever it takes to uncover the truth.

Bill Weeden, the veteran songwriter-comedian whose tunes were the basis for 2006's long-running musical revue Into the Weeds, closes this weekend in the American premiere of Richard Foreman's George Bataille's Bathrobe at The Brick, the Williamsburg theater known for its adventurousness and edge. The production was much-praised and so was Weeden's performance in the leading role. BWW caught up with Bill this week via e-mail to ask him about Foreman, the production, and his career.

She replaces Rokia Traoré (previously announced) whose scheduled U.S. tour has been postponed. Ndegeocello blends jazz, funk, rock, rap and soul as she continues to develop the 'neo-soul' genre she is credited with sparking.

The SANFORD AND DOLORES ZIFF CLASSICAL MUSIC SERIES will present four diverse works by the highly regarded Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Pinchas Zukerman, on December 16; a solo recital of audience favorites by four-time Emmy® Award and 15-time Grammy® Award-winning violinist Itzhak Perlman on January 12; the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of the internationally recognized American conductor Leonard Slatkin, on February 14; and outstanding pianist Lang Lang accompanied by the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival Orchestra, on March 29, conducted by Christoph Eschenbach. The four-part series will take place entirely in one of the most acoustically superb concert halls in the world - the Center's John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall.
