EL COLONEL NO TIENE QUIEN LE ESCRIBA ( No One Writes to the Colonel ), a world premiere play based on the fiction of the Nobel Prize winning Colombian novelist Gabriel Garc a M rquez, will debut this winter at Repertorio Espa ol (138 E. 27 St. in Manhattan) with previews beginning February 23 prior to an official press opening on February 27, it has been announced by Robert Federico, Executive Producer of Repertorio Espa ol, which is now celebrating its 50th season as one of Off-Broadway's longest-running, continuous theatres, and the ONLY company that presents Spanish-language/English translated (simultext) plays in NYC.

The evening is part of the Park City Institute's 20th Anniversary Main Stage Season. Park City Institute's traditional New Year's Eve show features virtuoso vocalist, banjo and fiddle-player Rhiannon Giddens. The show begins at 8:00 p.m. The performance is part of the Anniversary Main Stage Season at the George S. and Dolores Dor Eccles Center for Performing Arts. Giddens, who is co-founder of the Grammy award-winning band, the Carolina Chocolate Drops, is known for presenting heartfelt, often haunting performances, woven with themes of social justice.

Greenway Arts Alliance (Whitney Weston and Pierson Blaetz, Co-Founders and Co-Artistic Directors) and Urban Theatre Movement (Paul Tully, Artistic Director and Gisla Stringer, Company Manager) present the world premiere of YERMA IN THE DESERT by Oliver Mayer (Off-Broadway's Blade to the Heat at The Public Theater) and co-directed by Marlene Forte and Edgar Landa. Urban Theatre Movement is the first Los Angeles theatre company recipient of Greenway Arts Alliance's Greenway Residency Program, created in celebration of GAA's 20th Anniversary Celebration. YERMA IN THE DESERT will open to the press at Greenway Court Theatre (544 N. Fairfax Avenue, Los Angeles) on Friday, November 17 and play through December 16, 2017.
