Children and Families an 16 London Boroughs Take Part in Month-Long SPINE Festival

Now in its 8th year, SPINE Festival transforms libraries into creative hubs, introducing children aged 5 – 11 to the joys of their local library, to different art forms and to all the wonderful ways that words can be used. 16 London boroughs will be hosting their own programmes of free workshops and performances supported by leading spoken word poetry organisation Apples and Snakes and a team of 16 Artists in Residence.

Jazmine Sullivan, Jhene Aiko And Queen Naija Set To Perform At The Prudential Center In Newark

Multi-Grammy-nominated powerhouse singer/songwriter Jazmine Sullivan, Hot off the heels with her blockbuster new release earning her two Soul Train Awards (Album of the Year and Best R&B/Soul Female Artist) and receiving three Grammy Awards nominations (Best R&B Album, Best R&B Performance, and Best R&B Song for 'Pick Up Your Feelings') will be performing her hits in Atlantic City on June 10th. 

Downtown Urban Arts Festival Kicks Off Next Month

The DOWNTOWN URBAN ARTS FESTIVAL will present 16 plays (nine shorts and seven one-acts.) The festival kicks off on Friday, May 5 and Saturday, May 6 when Savion Glover and Reg E. Gaines (Bring in da Noise Bring in da Funk) make a much-anticipated return to The Public Theater with the centerpiece production If Trane Wuz Here.

Jem And The Holograms Parody Musical TRULY OUTRAGEOUS To Debut In Hollywood This Summer

Author and playwright Brandie June and award-winning musical theater writer Rebecca McGlynn will present the debut of their show TRULY OUTRAGEOUS — an unofficial parody musical based on the popular 80's cartoon show Jem And The Holograms. The project is currently crowdfunding on Kickstarter for a cast album and the show.

Uptown Players Presents 20th Annual Fundraiser BROADWAY OUR WAY!

Uptown Players presents its 20th annual fundraiser Broadway Our Way '23. This year's production is written and directed by B.J. Cleveland, choreographed by Jeremy Dumont with music direction by Kevin Gunter and Vonda K Bowling and musical arrangements by Adam C. Wright. Broadway Our Way will run Apriil 20 - 23, at the Kalita Humphreys Theater.

The August Wilson African American Cultural Center Hosts A TASTE OF THE AMERICAN CENTURY

The August Wilson African American Cultural Center has announced the final event of the first season of Beyond the Red Door, a unique experiential event series that expands on the permanent exhibition August Wilson: The Writer's Landscape. The event, titled “A Taste of the American Century,” will take place on Wednesday, April 26th at 5:30 pm in the transformed AWAACC café.
