Governors Island Welcomes Back Legendary Sheep Landscaping Crew

For the third straight year the Trust for Governors Island is proud to welcome a family of five sheep for their summer landscaping jobs. Hailing from Friends of Tivoli Lake Preserve and Farm in Albany these sheep will spend the next five months munching away on mugwort, phragmites and other invasive species, freeing up the Island's horticultural team to do more important work.

Walker's ritual performance flows between incantation, love lecture, scene, and song as it considers the labor of performance itself and honors the legacy of Whitney Houston and so many other Black women beloved, and consumed, for their art.

Sometimes show titles are spot-on perfect, albeit unintentionally. Porca Miseria is, in the Italian vernacular, an expression of frustration, something I would use when losing a cufflink or after sitting through a three hour-plus triptych of dance works that is, in the English vernacular, patently bobbins.
