Dick Van Dyke Will Receive Britannia Award for Excellence In Television

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts Los Angeles (BAFTA Los Angeles) is pleased to announce that beloved actor Dick Van Dyke will receive the Britannia Award for Excellence in Television at the 2017 AMD British Academy Britannia Awards Presented by American Airlines.  This year's event will take place on Friday, October 27, 2017 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

Legendary entertainer Dick Van Dyke, who won a Tony Award for his role in Bye Bye Birdie, is now an 'honorary lawyer.'  While he never played a lawyer in any of his major TV, film or Broadway roles, he is now among a prestigious group of lawyers and judges who make music together.  Founder-Conductor Gary S. Greene, Esq., an attorney for more than four decades, awarded Van Dyke honorary membership in the Los Angeles Lawyers Philharmonic at the orchestra's 8th Annual Concert Extraordinaire on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at UCLA Royce Hall. 

Musical Theatre West Adds Additional Performance of MARY POPPINS

Musical Theatre West brings a "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious," production of Disney and Cameron Mackintosh's Mary Poppins to the Carpenter Performing Arts Center July 7-23.  Due to an overwhelming demand, MTW has added an additional and final performance on Sunday, July 23, 6:00 pm.  Practically perfect in every way, it's a high flying fun filled adventure for the young and young at heart.  Based on the books by P.L. Travers and the classic Walt Disney film, Disney and Cameron Mackintosh's production features the delectable Sherman Brothers score, including 'A Spoonful of Sugar,' 'Jolly Holiday,' 'Let's Go Fly a Kite,' 'Step in Time,' and 'Chim Chim Cher-ee," as well as new musical additions, by the Olivier winning team of George Stiles and Anthony Drewe.   Tickets for the added performance go on sale Wednesday, June 21, 10am at www. musical.org, at the MTW Ticket Office, or by calling (562) 856-1999, ext. 4.  Best seats are available for this performance.  Tickets start at $20.

Rubicon Theatre Company presents MY LIFE UPON THE WICKED STAGE

On the heels of a thrilling performance by Phantom star DAVIS GAINES, the 2017 Janet and Mark L. Goldenson Broadway Concert Series at Rubicon Theatre Company continues with a concert starring Emmy Award-winner and multiple-Tony nominee NANCY DUSSAULT in MY LIFE…UPON THE WICKED STAGE. Perhaps best known to audiences as the first host of "Good Morning America," and for her co-starring role on TV on "Too Close for Comfort," Dussault's remarkable career began on the stage. Her concert includes anecdotes about Dussault's remarkable career and songs by many of her favorite composers, such as Richard Rodgers, Jule Styne, Burton Lane and Stephen Sondheim. Dussault's extraordinary musicality and comedic storytelling infuse new meaning into beloved classics such as "Getting Married Today," "Look to the Rainbow," "Old Friend" and her iconic "Make Someone Happy." The Murray Theatre at Ruth Eckerd Hall Presents the Classic Movie BYE BYE BIRDIE 6/9

The Marcia P. Hoffman School of the Arts at Ruth Eckerd Hall have announced their summer student performance will be the hit Broadway musical, Bye, Bye Birdie.   To celebrate this announcement, the Murray Theatre at Ruth Eckerd Hall presents a showing of the classic movie, starring Janet Leigh and Dick Van Dyke, for one night only on Friday, June 9 at 7 pm. Tickets are on sale now.
