Johnson And Cronin Give Sneak Peek Of New Musical TILL SOON, ANNE

An invitation-only sneak peak of TILL SOON, ANNE (book and lyrics by Christine Toy Johnson, music by Bobby Cronin) will take place as part of the Dramatists Guild's 'Friday Night Footlights' series on January 5, 2018 in New York City. Johnson and Cronin, along with Wade McCollum (ERNEST SHACKLETON LOVES YOU), Jaygee Macapugay (SCHOOL OF ROCK), Devin Ilaw (MISS SAIGON), Lauren Elder (SIDE SHOW), Cat Brindisi (THE PASSAGE) and David Darrow (book/music/lyrics writer of THE PASSAGE) will be singing songs from the show with William Demaniow at the piano and David Darrow on guitar.

NFL players across the country have been taking a knee in a show of solidarity against President Donald Trump, who said players that kneel during the National Anthem to protest racial inequality should be fired. On August 20, the casts of Broadway's Aladdin and Miss Saigon came together to swap songs, sing show tunes, and raise money for a friend in need. The show entitled Show/Swap was presented by Telly Leung and Billy Bustamante, and featured hits from Miss Saigon, Aladdin, Les Miserables, Little Shop of Horrors, The Little Mermaid, and more.

Last night was one of those special kind of evenings in Manhattan. Members of the Broadway Cast of MISS SAIGON gave up their night off, to perform and raise money for NAAP (National Asian Artists Project). The conceit was the cast sing 'whatever they want' … and it worked. The young, attractive company of the current revival are very talented and events like these are always a reminder of how deeply gifted each individual member of a company must, in order be to be able to explode with such power together, nightly, on the stage of the Broadway Theatre.

BWW Interview: Emily Bautista Talks Broadway Debut in MISS SAIGON

You don't always need a fairy godmother for your dreams to come true. Nineteen-year-old Emily Bautista was lucky enough to have extremely supportive parents and a boatload of talent instead. The thankful and humble young woman is now performing eight times a week in the Broadway revival of “Miss Saigon” as an ensemble member and understudies the lead: Kim. Emily and I actually went to high school together at the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts for Musical Theatre, and I was floored and overjoyed to see that she had been cast in the production. Bautista took some time in between shows of the Tony-nominated production to chat with me about her experience landing her first Broadway show.
