The Public Theater's 16th Under the Radar Festival Kicks Off Wednesday

The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) begins performances for the 16th annual UNDER THE RADAR FESTIVAL on Wednesday, January 8. This popular and highly-anticipated festival of The Public's winter season will include artists from across the U.S. and around the world, including Australia, Chile, China, Japan, Mexico, Palestine, Taiwan, and the U.K. Curated by UTR Festival Director Mark Russell, this year's UNDER THE RADAR FESTIVAL continues to expand to venues throughout New York City, in addition to The Public Theater's home at Astor Place.

Cast Announced For The World Premiere Of Janice Okoh's THE GIFT

Eclipse Theatre and the Belgrade Theatre Coventry today announce full casting for their upcoming co-production of Janice Okoh's The Gift, the third show to emerge from Eclipse's groundbreaking Revolution Mix movement, which is spearheading the largest ever delivery of new Black British stories in theatre, film and radio. The Gift will premiere in Coventry from 18-25 January before embarking on a UK tour.

New Leadership Announced At Eclipse Theatre

Eclipse Theatre has announced two new appointments in senior management. In December 2019 Amanda Huxtable will become the new Artistic Director and CEO, and Shawab Iqbal will join the company as Executive Producer. Currently in Sheffield and moving to Leeds, Eclipse is the foremost Black-led national touring company in the UK, developing new artists and delivering diverse programming in theatre, film and radio across the country.

Eclipse Theatre Company's BLACK MEN WALKING Opens Tron Autumn Season

Eclipse Theatre Company open Tron Theatre's main house season this Autumn with Black Men Walking (5-7 September), the critically acclaimed production inspired by a real-life walking men's group in Sheffield. The first work staged as part of the Eclipse's ground-breaking 'Revolution Mix' movement, which is delivering the largest ever national programme of Black British stories produced and performed in UK theatres, Black Men Walking premiered at the Royal Exchange in Manchester in January 2018 before embarking on a sell-out run across thirteen venues in England and Wales.

THE JUMPER FACTORY And RED DUST ROAD Come To Home Manchester

In 2017, Young Vic Taking Part took the Young Vic's production of The Brothers Size, by Moonlight writer Tarell Alvin McCraney, into HMP Wandsworth. The workshops led by Liverpool-born playwright Luke Barnes and director Justin Audibert which followed resulted in a brand-new piece of theatre - The Jumper Factory - developed with eight Wandsworth prisoners.

Eclipse Theatre has announced Stella Kanu as the new chair of the UK's foremost Black-led production company. The appointment marks a new chapter for the company as it looks to build on a decade at the vanguard of driving new work by Black British voices, establishing a reputation as one of the most valuable, vibrant and radical theatre companies in the UK.

Artistic Director Aislinn Rose announced The Theatre Centre's 201920 programming today at one of the company's signature (and delicious) community meals. The focus of the year ahead is on the idea of "reckless generosity".

Selina Thompson To Receive The Second Forced Entertainment Award

Forced Entertainment have announced artist and performer Selina Thompson as the second recipient of the Forced Entertainment Award (in memory of Huw Chadbourn). Created in 2018, the award will recognise one artist (or company) a year until 2021 and comprises £10,000 closely linked to a substantial package of mentoring and subsidiary support tailored each time to the needs and situation of the selected artist or group. The recipient of the 2018 inaugural award was Glasgow-based artist Nic Green.

Jackie Kay's RED DUST ROAD Will Play at HOME Manchester

Tickets are now on sale for the Manchester run in September 2019 of the National Theatre of Scotland and HOME co-production of the world premiere production of Red Dust Road, Jackie Kay's touching and affecting memoir of her life growing up as a mixed race adopted Scot.
