The May Fair Hotel welcomed a vast array of women ready to celebrate their fellow sisters' achievements in the British theatre world on Wednesday 26 March.

The winners were announced at the ceremony tonight for the inaugural Tonic Awards, at the May Fair Theatre hosted by Jenni Murray DBE. The Awards were initiated to celebrate the achievements of game-changing women who are redefining theatre and the performing arts.

Artistic Director of Sheffield Theatres Robert Hastie today announces his inaugural season. Driven to conflict as they encounter issues of inequality, housing and lack of opportunity that continue to resonate today, the play acts as a stark warning to anyone who measures happiness and personal worth in capital gain.

Indhu Rubasingham has announced her inaugural season at The Tricycle, which will launch with the World Premiere of Red Velvet, written by Lolita Chakrabarti with Adrian Lester in the role of Ira Aldridge; followed by The Tricycle's first festive family show, The Arabian Nights, written by Mary Zimmerman and adapted from The Book Of The Thousand Nights and One Night. Eclipse Theatre Company is to have a new home at Sheffield's Crucible.
