Netflix announced today that iconic filmmaker, Martin Scorsese, legendary musician Bruce Springsteen, media mogul Oprah Winfrey and groundbreaking filmmaker Ava DuVernay will headline the opening and closing week events in its third-annual FYSEE experience at Raleigh Studios, May 5 - June 9. Oscar®- and Emmy®-winning director Scorsese (The Irishman) and Grammy- and Tony Award®- winning musician Springsteen (Springsteen on Broadway) will appear together for an unforgettable opening night on Sunday, May 5. Turner Classic Movies (TCM), considered throughout the industry as the definitive home of classic film and the leading authority on the genre, will celebrate its 25th anniversary on April 14th, 2019. Over the past 25 years, the iconic network has offered movie lovers cinematic treasures that highlight the entire spectrum of film history, uncut and commercial-free. To celebrate its silver anniversary, TCM will present an extensive on-air programming salute throughout the entire month of April showcasing popular programing from the TCM vault including six TCM originally produced specials such as Robert Osborne's Best of Private Screenings and Live From The TCM Classic Film Festival: Norman Lloyd, as well as airing double features of The Best of The Essentials. Additionally, the network will air a two-week special primetime tribute with 25 of TCM's biggest fans joining TCM Host Ben Mankiewicz as guest programmers with on-air dedications of their favorite films. The network will also launch an exclusive 25thanniversary merchandise collection featuring original archival artwork reflecting the legacy of TCM as well a commemorative 25thanniversary wine through the TCM Wine Club.

Alternative country trio The Lone Bellow kicks off Elm Street Cultural Arts Village's second outdoor concert season, The Lantern Series, as part of their 2019/2020 Season To Prevail. 'This season really resonates with us as an organization - we learned a lot from our first season of The Lantern Series and we're really excited to make it more engaging with our community in its second season,' says Elm Street's Executive Director Christopher Brazelton on how the theme of prevailing extends beyond the theatre season. On Wednesday, April 10, 2019, top comedians and celebrity guests will join sports superstars John and Patrick McEnroe and Andy Cohen at the third annual You Cannot Be Serious! evening of comedy at Carolines on Broadway from 7:30pm to 10:00pm. Proceeds will benefit the Johnny Mac Tennis Project, a transformative youth tennis initiative founded by McEnroe.

BroadwayWorld has just learned that three Broadway favorites are set to bring The Princess Bride to life onstage. A Disney Theatrical spokesperson has confirmed that that David Yazbek (Tootsie, The Band's Visit) will write the score, and Bob Martin (The Prom) and Rick Elice (The Cher Show) will co-write the book for the new musical.

Nothing fills a critic's heart and soul with as much glee as the premiere of a brand-spanking-new musical, heretofore unseen by mortal men (and women). Thus, I'm happy to report that Esther, a new musical that premiered Thursday at Chaffin's Barn Dinner Theatre in an abbreviated four performance run, has some exceptional elements to be found in its two hours of performance time, although clearly there's a lot of work to be done if the show is to have a future outside The Barn.

The Tank (Meghan Finn and Rosalind Grush, Artistic Directors) in association with MT + NYC Collaborative and BetweenTheLines Theatre will present the World Premiere of The Buffalo Play written by Ciara Griffin and Kendra Mylnechuk Potter, directed by Mason Wagner at The Tank (312 West 36th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues), May 8-23.
