GREAT PERFORMANCES Presents 'Havana Time Machine' on PBS, Today

Born Raúl Francisco Martínez-Malo, Jr. to Cuban parents in Miami, the versatile roots-rock music singer embarks on a musical and historical odyssey through the present-day Cuban capital in Havana Time Machine, a US/Cuba collaborative musical showcase premiering as a special co-presentation of Great Performances and Latino Public Broadcasting's VOCES, Today, October 6 at 9 p.m. on PBS.

PBS to Feature Lyric Opera's ORPHEE ET EURYDICE on GREAT PERFORMANCES

Lyric Opera of Chicago has announced that Thirteen Productions LLC for WNET New York has selected the world-renowned opera company's premiere production of the 1774 Paris version of Gluck's Orph e et Eurydice, created by the legendary choreographer John Neumeier and featuring The Joffrey Ballet, to be part of the prestigious Great Performances series on PBS.

This fall, PBS brings viewers broadcast premieres of Broadway's best every Friday night, beginning October 20 with a GREAT PERFORMANCES special, SHE LOVES ME, starring Laura Benanti, Zachery Levi, Jane Krakowski and Gavin Creel. On October 27, LIVE FROM LINCOLN CENTER's FALSETTOS, set amidst the emerging AIDS crisis, takes an alternately comic and poignant look at a modern family.

NYC-ARTS Spotlights 2017 Avery Fisher Career Grant Award-Winning Violinst Chad Hoopes

NYC-ARTS, Thirteen's weekly arts and culture multi-platform showcase, brings arts lovers an all-access pass to the interesting, unusual and unique cultural offerings of the greater New York City region. Each year, the world-renowned Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts administers The Avery Fisher Career Grant, a prestigious award given to up to five outstanding instrumentalists. The award is intended to give significant recognition and support to instrumentalists who show great potential for solo careers.

INDECENT Ends Broadway Run with Stunning Final Week Gross of $739,171

INDECENT, a play by Pulitzer Prize-winner Paula Vogel, created by Ms. Vogel and Rebecca Taichman, and directed by Ms. Taichman, finished its extended run at Broadway's Cort Theatre yesterday with its highest weekly gross of $739,171. INDECENT began previews April 4 and opened April 18. The production played 128 performances and 15 previews.

THIRTEEN's Theater Close-Up Rebroadcasts Sam Shepard's Pulitzer Prize-Winning BURIED CHILD

In November 2016, Sam Shepard's Pulitzer-Prize winning play Buried Child debuted on THIRTEEN's Theater Close-Upseries.  In tribute to Shepard, who passed away last week at age 73, THIRTEEN is presenting a special encore presentation ofBuried Child airing in New York Friday, August 4 at 9 p.m. ET on THIRTEEN. Actress Blythe Danner hosts the broadcast.  Director Scott Elliott's acclaimed production by The New Group is available to stream online now for those within the New York metro area. 

Vienna Philharmonic Summer Night Concert 2017 Comes to THIRTEEN's Great Performances

Led for the second time by German pianist and conductor Christoph Eschenbach, the world-renowned Vienna Philharmonic returns for its 14th open-air concert, with a program inspired by fairy tales and myths, in Austria's Imperial Schönbrunn Palace Gardens. The Vienna Philharmonic Summer Night Concert 2017 airs on THIRTEEN's Great Performances
