Returning for its annual Kennedy Center engagement, American Ballet Theatre (ABT) brings two different programs to the Opera House stage,January 30 February 4. Casting for American Ballet Theatre's 2017 Fall Season at the David H. Koch Theater was announced today by Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie.

The Australian Ballet has just announced that internationally acclaimed dancers David Hallberg and Gillian Murphy will return to Melbourne as guest artists in the highly anticipated Melbourne premiere of Symphony in C, playing exclusively at Arts Centre Melbourne, State Theatre from 24 August to 2 September 2017. 

John Cranko's Eugene Onegin is often referred to as a “story ballet for grown-ups” since it is devoid of the fantasy birds and other magical creatures that populate so much of the classical ballet canon. The dancers portray real people with real emotions as Cranko brings to life Alexander Pushkin's iconic verse novel. Cranko's version of the tale has new plot twists that some critics have found dismaying while others have applauded them. I fall into the latter category.

American Ballet Theatre's 2017 Spring season at the Metropolitan Opera House, May 15-July 8, will feature the New York Premiere of Alexei Ratmansky's Whipped Cream and the Company Premiere of Ratmansky's Souvenir d'un lieu cher. Tickets for ABT's Spring Season at the Metropolitan Opera House go on sale at the box office on Sunday, March 26 at 12 Noon.

NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts will present ABT Studio Company (formerly ABT II) and graduate students of The Royal Ballet School (RBS), in a shared bill of classical and new classical repertory, showcasing the talent of the next generation of ballet's professionals, on February 10 and 11 at 7 pm at NYU Skirball Center.

Segerstrom Center for the Arts will present the World Premiere of American Ballet Theatre's new production of Whipped Cream, choreographed by ABT Artist in Residence Alexei Ratmansky, with sets and costumes by pop-surrealist Mark Ryden. ABT will give seven performances of the full-length work March 15-19, 2017 in Segerstrom Hall.
