Birdland will kick-off their exciting month of programming with the following acts:

THE LAWS OF HUMAN NATURE Author, Robert Greene, and UK-based composer Ilan Eshkeri are Tom Needham's special guests this Thursday at 6 pm on WUSB's THE SOUNDS OF FILM.

In their venture rediscovering lost classic, Finborough Theatre brings back to the stage St John Ervine's Jane Clegg. The piece was first seen at the Gaiety Theatre in Manchester in 1913 and David Gilmore's new production in London is the first in 75 years.

Today, Luther Burbank Center for the Arts (LBC) announced the first 11 new shows to be added to its 2019 2020 season, continuing its tradition of showcasing a diverse lineup of chart-topping musicians, compelling dance companies, and groundbreaking storytellers. In a production commissioned by the Finborough Theatre, St John Ervine's 1913 drama Jane Clegg opens at the Finborough Theatre for a four-week limited season on Tuesday, 23 April 2019 (Press Nights: Thursday, 25 April 2019 and Friday, 26 April 2019 at 7.30pm).

The Finborough Theatre's Spring season features three stunning rediscoveries, all unseen in London for many years - a heart-breaking play set against the backdrop of apartheid South Africa by Athol Fugard; a hit British musical of the 1960s from the composer of Oliver!, Lionel Bart; and our third rediscovery from neglected Ulster playwright St John Ervine.

JazzTimes's "Best Alto Saxophonist" and Village Voice's "Best Jazz Artist" winner Rudresh Mahanthappa returns to Miller Theatre with his Indo-Pak Coalition, featuring guitarist Rez Abbasi and percussionist Dan Weiss. On the heels of the success of their recent album, Agrima, the Indo-jazz fusion trio continues to maintain a blend of colorful, Carnatic motifs with elements of rock and bebop jazz, while still finding new ways to expand their improvisational and sonic vocabulary.

Tickets for the Canadian premiere of Sting's acclaimed musical The Last Ship will go on public sale Monday November 12. Presented by David Mirvish and produced by Karl Sydow and Kathryn Schenker, the limited six-week engagement runs February 9 through March 24, 2019 at Toronto's Princess of Wales Theatre.

Jazz at Princeton University presents guest artist and Blue Note Records trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire in the world premiere of Slightly Left of Sorrow's Song, commissioned by Jazz at Princeton University to commemorate the 150th anniversary of W.E.B. DuBois' birth. Akinmusire will perform the 8-movement suite with the school's Small Group I under the leadership of saxophonist and program director Rudresh Mahanthappa.

Featuring Eddie Arjun Peters on guitar, Andre Lyles on bass guitar and Michael Vetter on drums; ARJUN fuses the power of rock with improvisational alternative jazz, resulting in a delicate balance of intricately crafted melodies backed by powerhouse musicianship.

MILES ELECTRIC BAND - Progressive All-Star ensemble featuring Miles Davis alumni revises the framework for modern jazz improvisation. The avant-garde collective revisits repertoire from Davis' electric period to pay homage to The Chief. The band represents two generations of players: Davis' contemporaries and the next generation. This is a rotating ensemble of master musicians.

The Miles Electric Band, a progressive, All-Star ensemble of Miles Davis alumni who are revising the framework for modern jazz improvisation, will perform at the Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts (The Soraya) on Thursday, March 1 at 8:00pm.  The avant-garde collective revisits repertoire from Davis' electric period (1968 - 1975) in paying homage to The Chief.  The band represents two generations of players: Davis' contemporaries and the next generation.

The Royal Conservatory of Music has announced that there have been some updates to the line-up of the musicians slated to perform in the upcoming Miles Electric Band concert on October 14.
