The Toronto International Film Festival ® unveiled today the 26 Canadian features within various programmes that are part of the Festival's 2019 lineup. The slate offers a wide range of perspectives and themes, from youth struggling with the pressures of adulthood to seniors fighting for their independence in virtually every region in the country. The Canadian selection includes seven first features, 13 works by returning TIFF alumni, and almost 50% films directed by women.

Joana Vicente and Cameron Bailey, Co-Heads of TIFF, today announced the new documentary David Foster: Off the Record will have its World Premiere at TIFF. The film's premiere will be followed with a special tribute to David Foster at the TIFF Tribute Gala. 

Shoshana Bean, star of Wicked, City Center's Songs for a New World, and the most recent Jenna in Broadway's Waitress, makes her long anticipated Feinstein's/54 Below debut with shows on August 24, 27, 29, 30 and 31 at 7pm. Cover charges start at $85, with VIP and Premium seating starting at $110.

The Tenors, a multi-platinum trio, may have performed for four different presidents of the United States and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee birthday celebrations at Windsor Castle, but on Monday July 22, they will bring their international acclaim to the SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre in Orem, Utah.

London-based Canadian producer, singer and songwriter Rhi has returned with a new single and video, “Swagger”, out today via Tru Thoughts – watch + share via YouTube – announcing her sophomore LP, The Pale Queen, is due to arrive October 4.  The Pale Queen follows the phenomenal debut Reverie which received support from BBC Radio 1, BBC 6Music, KCRW, The Independent, Clash and Complex.

As a verbose and loquacious lecturer attempts to deliver his script, he is repeatedly de-railed by his own footnotes. This solo show by dance artist and theatre-maker Lewys Holt highlights the comic possibilities of the situation.

The Peace Center has added three concerts to the schedule - Chanticleer, America, and David Foster with Special Guest Katharine McPhee.

Grammy Winner Andrew Synowiec has released his Debut album today entitled Second Story. The entire album was recorded in 6 hours at Band House Studios in Hollywood, CA.

Fraudprophets (www.fraudprophets.com), a collaboration between multi-instrumentalist and composer Sean Halley and A-list drummer Nate Morton (seen weekly on NBC's 'The Voice'), are ecstatic to announce the release of their debut album 'Poptosis' on June 3, 2019. One of the most anticipated events of the season, the annual Hot Pink Party was hosted by the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) on Wednesday, May 15 at the Park Avenue Armory, raising $6 million for breast cancer research. This year's gala commemorated the incredible impact BCRF investigators have made on research since the organization's founding in 1993.

Brandon Jenner releases new, solo EP Plan On Feelings  on June 14, featuring first single “Death Of Me,” available May 10 as an instant grat. The project was written and produced by Jenner, who shares a more intimate, vulnerable and personable work, than previously known for, that is masterfully crafted and catchy. The prolific singer/songwriter offers an extremely candid view of his authentic self, bypassing the diluted version. Call it an emotional coming out party.      

MerleFest, presented by Window World, has officially come to a close, but not without a number of electric collaborations, spontaneous sit-ins, and world-class performances. Wynonna & The Big Noise, Amos Lee, Tyler Childers, Sam Bush Band, Brandi Carlile, and The Avett Brothers all brought extra MerleFest energy to the Watson Stage, marking another successful year for the long-running festival. Early estimates show that from its start on Thursday, April 25, to its close on Sunday, April 28, participation over the festival's four days exceeded 75,000 attendees and artists from across the world. MerleFest, held on the campus of Wilkes Community College, is the primary fundraiser for the WCC Foundation, which funds scholarships, capital projects, and other educational needs.

Juno Award-winning rock icons Lighthouse, internationally celebrated piano duo Anagnoson & Kinton, and foremost arts patron BMO Financial Group have been named Honorary Fellows of The Royal Conservatory of Music. They will receive the designation - the highest one conferred by the organization - on May 15, 2019 at The Royal Occasion.

 BMI (Broadcast Music, Inc.) is proud to announce that film composer and celebrated jazz musician Terence Blanchard will be named a BMI Icon at the 35th annual BMI Film, TV & Visual Media Awards in recognition of his significant contributions to the cinematic community.  The ceremony will also honor award-winning composer, arranger, orchestrator and conductor William Ross with the BMI Classic Contribution Award, and salute the top performing composers in film, TV and visual media of the past year. Hosted by BMI President and CEO Mike O'Neill and BMI Vice President Creative - Film, TV & Visual Media Doreen Ringer-Ross, the private event will be held on Wednesday, May 15 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA.

The McCallum Theatre announced today its new lineup for the 2019-2020 season, continuing to present the finest world-class artists and entertainers for Coachella Valley audiences.  The new season includes McCallum debuts, returning favorites, iconic superstars, family-friendly entertainment and holiday cheer, among so much more. BMI (Broadcast Music, Inc.) is pleased to celebrate an evening of exceptional songwriting at its 67th Annual BMI Pop Awards.  In an event 22 years in the making,Sting, already a BMI Icon, will be honored for his enduring hit single “Every Breath You Take,” which has become the Most Performed Song in BMI's catalog of over 14 million musical works.  The award ceremony will also celebrate multi-platinum GRAMMY Award-winning band Imagine Dragons with the BMI President's Award, and Martin Bandier, legendary music publishing executive, will be named a BMI Icon, the first time a music publisher has been given this honor. The private event will be hosted by BMI President and CEO Mike O'Neill and Vice President Worldwide Creative Barbara Cane and will take place on Tuesday, May 14th at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. 

From its first incarnation in 1993, MerleFest's annual Chris Austin Songwriting Competition has seen the likes of Gillian Welch, Tift Merritt, and Martha Scanlan rise to the top of an always competitive field of up-and-coming songwriters. Legendary songwriters have presided over the competition from the start as judges, too. Darrell Scott, Hayes Carll, and the late, great Guy Clark have all taken a turn at judging the CASC. This year, the event will be judged byJoey Ryan and Kenneth Pattengale, better known as The Milk Carton Kids, Cruz Contreras of The Black Lillies, and Texas-troubadour Radney Foster. Mr. Americana Jim Lauderdale will host the competition and Mark Bumgarner will return as emcee for the finalist contest taking place at MerleFest's Austin Stage on Friday, April 26th at 2:00 p.m.

Kansas City Repertory Theatre Executive Director Angela Lee Gieras has announced the organization's 2019 Gala, THE CAST PARTY. Featuring a performance by international recording artist and Broadway veteran Shoshana Bean, THE CAST PARTY promises an evening of Broadway-style glamour. Gala chairs Roshann Parris and Jeff Dobbs will host this annual fundraising event on Friday, May 10, at 5:30 PM at The Abbott, located at 1901 Cherry St. in Kansas City's Crossroads arts district.
