The Philly POPS Brings Its Beloved Holiday Traditions Home For The Holidays

Both performances feature Music Director and Principal Conductor David Charles Abell leading the POPS with Hamilton star and POPS Christmas favorite Mandy Gonzalez and Artistic Director for Jazz Terell Stafford on trumpet, with dazzling performer and improviser Charlie Albright on piano, performing digitally.

David Charles Abell Appointed Music Director And Principal Conductor Of The Philly POPS

The Philly POPS announced today the appointment of David Charles Abell as Music Director and Principal Conductor. Abell made his debut with the POPS in 2013 with his unforgettable presentations of A Philly POPS Christmas: Spectacular Sounds of the Season. He was appointed Principal Guest Conductor in 2017 and will enter his eighth season with the POPS for the 2020a?"2021 Bright Lights! Big City! season.

Lyric Opera of Kansas City Has Announced 2020-2021 Season

Lyric Opera of Kansas City General Director and CEO Deborah Sandler today announced the company's 2020-2021 season. It features four mainstage productions, including The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess and The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs, both of which are being performed on a Lyric Opera of Kansas City stage for the first time. Two all-time favorites known for incomparable melodies - Verdi's beloved La traviata and Bizet's passionate Carmen - round out the extraordinarily diverse season. The Kansas City Symphony Orchestra will accompany all performances at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. The Kimmel Center Cultural Campus Announces Holiday-Themed Programming & Family-Friendly Event

The Kimmel Center Cultural Campus is pleased to announce a diverse array of holiday-themed programming & family-friendly events, including: returning favorites from the Kimmel Center's esteemed Resident Companies like The Philadelphia Orchestra, Pennsylvania Ballet, and The Philly POPS; FREE Gospel events; and opportunity for community outreach & city-wide celebrations like the FREE 15th annual New Year's Day celebration. This year, the Kimmel Center partners with Urban Affairs Coalition for 'Warmth for the Holidays 2019' donation drive, collecting new hats, scarves, mittens and gloves for children and adults. The Philly POPS Salutes 2,000 Military, Veteran, Police, And Fire Department Personnel And Families With Free Christmas Concert

The Philly POPS kicks off its Christmas concert series with the sixth annual Comcast NBCUniversal I'll Be Home for Christmas: A Salute to the Military and First Responders December 6, 2019 at 8 p.m. at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. At this annual benefit concert, the POPS hosts 2,000 members of the military, veterans, police and fire departments, and their families. The concert is presented in partnership with the USO, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the City of Philadelphia, and the Philadelphia Police and Fire Departments.
