WordFire Press is pleased to announce that David Butler has accepted the position of Acquisitions Editor. Butler is a well-recognized author within speculative fiction (fantasy, science fiction, space opera, steampunk, cyberpunk, superhero, alternate history, dystopian fiction, horror and related genres) for all audiences. He has sold novels to Knopf and Baen as well as WordFire Press, including his steampunk speculative fiction, City of Saints as well as his YA horror/supernatural series, Rock Band Fights Evil.
Chattanooga Symphony & Opera to Perform SIDE-BY-SIDE Concert, 2/28

Chattanooga, TN – The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera (CSO) and the CSO Youth Orchestras (CSOYO) present a unique event, featuring not only two of the youth orchestras in concert (Symphony and Philharmonic), but also the CSO Orchestra and the CSOYO Symphony combined. Giving students the chance to play alongside professional musicians provides invaluable musical education opportunities for the up-and-coming musicians. This event will provide CSOYO students a chance to learn more about their craft by working alongside the CSO musicians on classical masterworks by popular composers such as Rossini and Liszt. Featured in the program are the top two winners of the 2015 CSOYO Concerto Competition, Hannah Eitzen and Sasha Hitachi-Kizziah. Josh Holritz, CSO Associate Concertmaster and CSOYO alumnus, will also be featured.

Brunswick's Theater Project has mounted a sparkling production of David Ives' version of Pierre Corneille's The Liar, offering the audience a rare treat to be able to enjoy this seventeenth century comedy in Ives' witty, linguistically rich "translaptation." Not only is the choice of such a sophisticated play to be applauded, but the professional company does the work proud!

Film and television star David Butler has joined the cast of Off-Broadway's longest running play, PERFECT CRIME, in the role of W. Harrison Brent. He began performing in the role on July 27, doing a guest appearance for one month.

Acclaimed playwright August Wilson's New York Drama Critics Circle Award-winning drama, Joe Turner's Come and Gone, will close out the 6th season for The African American Repertory Theater (AART). Vince McGill, a founder of AART and respected veteran of local stages, returns to Dallas to head the cast in this production as Herald Loomis. The play will be presented at KD Studio Theatre in Dallas.

On May 4, 2014, the Knoxville Museum of Art (KMA) will debut a new, monumentally scaled sculpture by internationally acclaimed artist Richard Jolley. Commissioned especially for the Museum's newly refurbished Ann and Steve Bailey Hall, where it will remain on permanent view, Cycle of Life: Within the Power of Dreams and the Wonder of Infinity extends for some 100 running feet and soars to a height of 12 feet, making it one of the largest figurative glass-and-steel assemblages in the world. Fashioned of thousands of individual cast and blown-glass elements, the massive work unfolds as an epic narrative of the successive phases of life. Begun in 2009, it is the Knoxville-based artist's most ambitious and complex undertaking to date.
