From three-time Oscar(R) nominee John Logan, the Showtime drama series Penny Dreadful debuted to 1.443 million viewers last night, besting the series premieres of recent network dramas Homeland and Masters of Sex by five percent (both delivered 1.38 million) in their first seasons. The series premiere of Penny Dreadful drew 872,000 at 10 p.m.
SHOWTIME will be available to 74 million households during a Free Preview Weekend this Friday, May 9 through Sunday, May 11. British actress Billie Piper (Doctor Who,Secret Diary of a Call Girl) has just signed on to star in the highly anticipated SHOWTIME drama series PENNY DREADFUL, which will begin filming this fall for a 2014 premiere on the network.
