Playhouse Square Successfully Advances The Legacy Campaign

Playhouse Square shines brightly today thanks to the dedication and foresight of individuals who saw the theaters as both a symbol of Cleveland's past and an inspiration for the future. To honor their efforts and further its not-for-profit mission, in 2014 Playhouse Square began to pursue its largest philanthropic effort, the $100 million Advancing the Legacy Campaign.

Toronto's First Marching Band Theatre Company Returns with Brand New Show, 'High School Symphony'

Last year, the immerse marching band theatre company, The Teeny Tiny Music Show premiered in Toronto with their show of the same name in the 2017 The Toronto Fringe Festival and are returning this year with their brand new play, HIGH SCHOOL SYMPHONY, a tale of friendship, revenge, and if we ever REALLY got over what happened in high school. This musical whirlwind is premiering April 14th 2018, 7:30pm at The Painted Lady, located at 218 Ossington Avenue downtown Toronto.

Ohio Theatre Lobby to be Restored

The George Gund Foundation has made a $3 million commitment to Advancing the Legacy, The Campaign for Playhouse Square. This gift is designated to support the restoration of the historic Ohio Theatre Lobby, the only one yet to be restored, to its original 1921 splendor. In recognition of the foundation's generosity, the lobby will be renamed the "George Gund Foundation Lobby."

Translations, directed by M. Bevin O'Gara, takes place in 1833 rural Ireland, with most of the action occurring in a school whose adult students often discuss incorporating English into their studies and other methods of furthering themselves in a constantly changing world. Soon, British soldiers come on the scene with the intention of remapping the country, anglicizing the Gaelic city names, and more or less attempting to wipe out the Gaelic language entirely.
