Main Street Theater provides theater experiences for all ages. Founded in 1975, our MainStage produces professional, intimate, literary plays for adults; our Theater for Youth produces professional, engaging productions based on children's literature for families and school groups, both in-house and on tour around Texas; and we offer Education and Outreach programs on-site and at satellite locations around the Greater Houston area for youth aged 4 - high school. We perform locally in 2 facilities: our Rice Village home on Times. Blvd., and as part of the MATCH (Midtown Arts & Theater Center Houston) on Main Street.

Rebel Wilson is set to star alongside David Wenham in the Australian drama series “Les Norton,” according to Variety. The show is adapted from the novels of Robert G. Barrett and is presented by The Australian Broadcasting Corporation and Screen Australia.

Obsidian Theater in association with Standing Room Only Productions is excited to bring the musical comedy, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, to Houston audiences. This hilarious whodunit will run September 28-October 14 at Obsidian Theater. With book, music and lyrics by Rupert Holmes, this show within a show is based on the final unfinished novel of the same name by Charles Dickens, who left his story unfinished when he passed away in 1870. Due to the novel being incomplete, the identity of the murderer, or the question of Drood's ultimate fate, was never revealed.

Ambassador Theatre Group and NETworks Presentations LLC just announced that Laura Michelle Kelly (Anna Leonowens) and Jose Llana (King of Siam) will lead the national tour of the Lincoln Center Theater production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's THE KING AND I. Joan Almedilla will play Lady Thiang with Brian Rivera as Kralahome, Manna Nichols as Tuptim, Kavin Panmeechao as Lun Tha, Anthony Chan as Prince Chulalongkorn, Graham Montgomery as Louis Leonowens and Baylen Thomas as Captain Orton/Sir Edward Ramsey. The tour will launch in Providence, RI October 30-November 6, 2016, and will play multi-week and single week engagements throughout the 2016-17 touring season and beyond. Leeds Hill (Cabaret), Shannon Conley (Hedwig) and Daniel Edwards (Anything Goes) along with Lisa Ortiz (voice actress) and Mike Greco (musician) volunteered to do an improv performance of the Supreme Court ruling on marriage equality, as part of the world's largest scavenger hunt, GISHWHES, hosted by TV star Misha Collins (Supernatural). The two-minute skit, where Hill plays the majority opinion and Conley the dissenting opinion, both in drag for their roles, is below!
