The Off-Broadway musical 'Amerike - The Golden Land' wraps up its seven-week run on Sunday, August 20.

In a time when issues of immigration, assimilation, xenophobia, and socio-economic upheaval are more present than ever, the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene will bring to the stage a reimagined version of Moishe Rosenfeld and Zalmen Mlotek's Amerike-The Golden Land, a musical journey of the immigration experience. Playing at the Museum of Jewish Heritage, across from the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, from which the story has taken inspiration, this limited Off Broadway engagement opened last night and will run through August 6th. The National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF), currently producers of the Tony-nominated 'Indecent,' and the company responsible for last season's hit musical 'The Golden Bride,' kicks off its record-making 103rd consecutive season with 'Amerike - The Golden Land,' a high-energy musical journey of the American immigrant experience.

Further evidence that Yiddish is suddenly hip in 2017 was on flashy display last night at the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, as the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene welcomed a diverse and eclectic crowd to celebrate mothers and the mother tongue in grand style. Prominent producer Daryl Roth and nine other women trailblazers in the arts, sciences, business and philanthropy were honored, and a dazzling all-female cast performed one showstopper after another. The evening's mother hen was the fabulous four-time Tony nominee Tovah Feldshuh, who delighted the audience with her funny and peppery mix of wisdom and heartfelt cheerleading for the Jewish mothers attending and for the Jewish mother in all of us.

Four-time Tony nominee Tovah Feldshuh and the Emmy and Tony Award-winning David Hyde Pierce will be among those appearing in the Drama Desk Award-winning National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene's Mother's Day gala concert, Our Leading Ladies, at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, 566 LaGuardia Place, on Sunday May 14, at 6:30pm.
