El Museo Del Barrio Re-Opens Its Galleries After Major Upgrade & Renovation

El Museo del Barrio is pleased to re-open its Galerias (Galleries) to the public on September 13, 2018, after a ten month-long renovation of its mechanical and control systems, including heating, air-conditioning and humidification. The renovation, also known as the Gallery Environmental Stabilization Project (The Project) was generously funded with $4.85 million from the City of New York, including support from the New York City Council, the Office of the Mayor, and the Office of the Manhattan Borough President. City funding, which covered all expenses associated with the project, was provided through the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs. 

Glaspell Award-Winning HITLER'S TASTERS Makes NYC Premiere With New Light Theater Project

New Light Theater Project is thrilled to present the New York premiere of HITLER'S TASTERS written by Michelle Kholos Brooks and directed by Sarah Norris. HITLER'S TASTERS begins performances on Friday, October 5 for a limited engagement through Saturday, October 27. Press opening is Wednesday, October 10 at 7:30 PM. The performance schedule is Wednesday - Friday at 7:30 PM, Saturday at 3 PM & 7:30 PM, and Sunday at 3 PM. Please note the following schedule adjustments: the Sunday, October 7 performance is at 7 PM and there are added performances on Monday, October 8 and Monday, October 22 at 7:30 PM. Staten Island Children's Museum Receives $3.1 Million In City Support For Capital Improvements To Increase Energy Efficiency

The NYC Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA), in partnership with the New York City Council, has allocated $3.1 million in capital funding in the FY19 City capital budget to the Staten Island Children's Museum (SICM) for improvements that will reduce the institution's carbon footprint. SICM will upgrade its 40-year-old heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system, increasing operating efficiency and improving visitor experience.

SummerStage Announces Gilligan Moss, Free Show At Rockaway Beach On 8/17

City Parks Foundation's SummerStage has announced that Gilligan Moss will be performing on Friday, August 17 at Rockaway Beach on the 94th Street Plaza off of Shorefront Parkway. This free show will take place from 6 to 9 PM, thanks to generous support from NYC Parks. For more information on all upcoming City Parks Foundation SummerStage shows, please visit here!

City Parks Foundation's SummerStage July and August Dance Performances

The City Parks Foundation SummerStage Concert Series presents over 100 shows in all 5 NYC Boroughs throughout the Summer. The best part? Almost every show is free and curated specifically for the neighborhood it's presented in. We are committed to presenting Dance in communities, and to making this art form accessible to all through performances, workshops and panels across the city. Over the next few weeks, can't miss dance events from companies like Alonzo King LINES Ballet, Bombazo Dance Co, Kyle Abraham's Abraham.In.Motion, Peridance Contemporary Dance Company and more will be hitting stages across the city. Additionally, a few special workshops will be offered in conjunction with these performances.

Dance/NYC Publishes 'Performing Disability. Dance. Artistry.' Research

The service organization Dance/NYC today announced the release of Performing Disability. Dance. Artistry. The study is meant to increase knowledge about dance made by disabled artists, performed by disabled artists, and rooted in disability culture and aesthetics, in and beyond the New York City metropolitan area.

THE JUNGLE Comes To St. Ann's Warehouse For American Premiere

St. Ann's Warehouse will present the U.S. Premiere of The Jungle, the immensely acclaimed Good Chance Theatre co-production with the National Theatre and Young Vic. Currently opening a five-month run at London's Playhouse Theatre on the West End, The Jungle comes to St. Ann's beginning December 4, 2018.

The Public Adds Free Public Performance of RUNAWAYS

The Public Theater will present the Annual Gala performance of the groundbreaking and thought-provoking musical RUNAWAYS by Elizabeth Swados on Monday, June 11 at the Delacorte Theater. There will also be a free added public performance of the musical on Tuesday, June 12, open to all.

Charles Mee to Be Honored By Cherry Lane Theatre And New York City Council Speaker Corey Johnson, 6/11

Legendary playwright, Charles Mee, is turning 80 years and will be celebrated by Cherry Lane Theatre at a benefit performance of FIRST LOVE followed by a blowout bash at Casa La Femme (140 Charles Street). Additionally New York City Council Speaker Corey Johnson will recognize Charles Mee with an official New York City Proclamation for his extraordinary and enduring contributions to the American theatre, on Monday, June 11, 2018 at The Cherry Lane Theatre beginning at 7pm.
