Kool and the Gang, Metropolitan Opera Summer Recital Series & Yiddish Under the Stars, & More Set for City Park's SummerStage

City Parks Foundation's SummerStage is in full swing, with upcoming shows for the week of June 11th taking place all across New York City. For the most up-to-date scheduling and lineup for all SummerStage programming, visit www.SummerStage.org for all festival information.

On Monday, June 11th in Central Park and Wednesday, June 13th in Brooklyn Bridge Park, the first free shows of The Metropolitan Opera Summer Recital Series will take place. This week will feature Met Opera stars Latonia Moore, Mario Chang, and Joshua Hopkins performing an evening of arias and duets from some of opera's most beloved works. Doors open at 7 PM.

On Wednesday, June 13th, Yiddish Under the Stars will take place in Central Park. The free show will celebrate Yiddish soul with noted stars, including Frank London and his Klezmer All Stars, Andy Statman, Pharohs Daughter featuring Cantor Basya Schecter, Golem, Cantor Magda Fishman, Eleanor Reissa, Daniel Kahn & the Painted Bird, and Zalmen Mlotek. Doors open at 6 PM.

On Saturday, June 16th, 2017 MacArthur Genius grant recipient and Carolina Chocolate Drops co-founder Rhiannon Giddens will perform a free concert in Central Park with blues musician Son Little. Doors open at 6 PM.

June 16th is also the season's first free show in Queens. SummerStage Only in Queens festival will present the award-winning R&B group Kool and the Gang in a career-spanning set at Flushing Meadows Corona Park. The show will take place from 5 to 8 PM.
