Kool and The Gang To Perform Free Concert for Only In Queens SummerStage this Saturday, June 16

Kool and the Gang, the iconic, Grammy award winning R&B group is set to headline Only In Queens SummerStage Concert on Saturday, June 16th in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. The concert will take place from 5PM-8PMand is free and open to the public.

Known for their timeless hits Get Down On It, Celebration, Jungle Boogie, Cherish, Summer Madness and many more, Kool & The Gang have been entertaining audiences for over fifty years. They have helped shape funk and soul as we know it as well as inspire denizens of admirers and other talented artists since their inception in 1969.

From Nairobi to Newark, Kool & the Gang has performed continuously longer than any R&B group in history and their bulletproof funk and jazzy arrangements have also made them the most sampled R&B band of all time.

A reviewer recently called their performance "a 24-karat show" and every year, even after a half-century on the road, yields a non- stop schedule of shows across the globe.

The heavily-in-demand band has continued to tour the world, appearing most recently alongside Kid Rock, Dave Matthews Band, Elton John and The Roots and performing on a recent, 50-city tour with rock legends Van Halen.

Only In Queens SummerStage Concert is presented by Queens Borough President Melinda Katz and will be hosted by Roxanne Shante.

City Parks Foundation's SummerStage is New York City's largest free outdoor performing arts festival, bringing more than 100 performances to Central Park and 17 neighborhood parks throughout the five boroughs. This year's festival, presented by Capital One, will showcase over 200 unique artists hailing from New York City and around the globe, performing shows across a diversity of genres and disciplines, including indie-rock, hip-hop, Latin, jazz, R&B, salsa, opera, contemporary dance, and spoken word.
