Be More Chill, the original musical with music and lyrics by Joe Iconis (NBC's 'Smash', The Black Suits, Broadway Bounty Hunter) and a book by Joe Tracz(The Lightning Thief, Netflix's 'Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events') will have its New York premiere production this summer. On this episode of BroadwayWorld's theatre business podcast, 'The OHenry Report,' Broadway producer and investor Oliver Henry Roth goes inside the Tony Award season. Oliver opens the episode by talking to first-time nominee Itamar Moses, the bookwriter for Best Musical favorite 'The Band's Visit.' Williamstown Theatre Festival has announced casting and creative team additions to the 2018 season including Tony Award winners Natasha Katz and Clint Ramos, as well as details on additional programming and special events for the 2018 summer season.

There is less than a week to go before the 72nd Annual Tony Awards, and last night the 2018 nominees got together for one of the last times before the big night to celebrate the Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre and Special Award Recipients.

Student rush tickets will be offered for the final two weeks of performances of the Signature Theatre production of Paradise Blue by Obie Award-winning playwright Dominique Morisseau and directed by Tony Award-winner Ruben Santiago-Hudson. Student rush tickets will be sold for $30 when the ground floor Box Office opens each day up until performance time. The tickets are only available for purchase in person at 480 West 42nd Street and are subject to availability. Limit two tickets per person. Valid student ID must be presented at the time of purchase.

Winners for the 63rd Annual Drama Desk Awards were announced just last night at The Town Hall. In keeping with Drama Desk's mission, nominators considered shows that opened on Broadway, Off Broadway and Off-Off Broadway during the 2017-2018 New York theater season in the same competitive categories.

The producers of Broadway's Once On This Island announced today that Merle Dandridge will return to the Tony Nominated production for a limited time from June 18 - August 19. Current cast member Tamyra Gray will return as Papa Ge on August 20.

The Signature Theatre (Paige Evans, Artistic Director; Harold Wolpert, Executive Director; James Houghton, Founder) production of Paradise Blue by Obie Award-winning playwright Dominique Morisseau and directed by Tony Award-winner Ruben Santiago-Hudson has been extended by a week for a second time, the company announced today. The production, which opened on May 14, will now run through June 17, 2018.

The producers of Broadway's Once On This Island announced today that Lea Salonga will play her final performance in the show on June 24. Current cast member Darlesia Cearcy will take over the role of Erzulie on June 25.

Outer Critics Circle, the organization of writers and commentators for media covering New York theatre announced today its award winners for the 2017-18 season in 27 categories.
