Signature Theatre Extends David Henry Hwang's KUNG FU Through 3/30

Signature Theatre has announced that the World Premiere of David Henry Hwang's new play KUNG FU, directed by Leigh Silverman with choreography by Sonya Tayeh, will get a two week extension and now play through Sunday, March 30. The production begins performances on February 4 and officially opens on February 24, 2014 in The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). Limited $25 subsidized tickets remain for the production's initial run through March 16. Tickets during the extension weeks are $75 each.

Public Theater Extends GOOD PERSON OF SZECHWAN Through 12/8

The Public Theater announced a two-week extension for The Foundry Theatre's GOOD PERSON OF SZECHWAN by Bertolt Brecht. With a translation by John Willett and directed by Lear deBessonet, GOOD PERSON OF SZECHWAN began performances on Friday, October 18 and was originally scheduled to close on Sunday, November 24. The show officially opened on Tuesday, October 29 and will now run an additional two weeks to Sunday, December 8.

GOOD PERSON OF SZECHWAN Reopens at The Public in October

The Foundry Theatre has announced that its critically acclaimed production of Bertolt Brecht's Good Person of Szechwan will reopen this fall as part of The Public Theater's 2013-14 season. The Public's five-week run of the show, October 18 - November 24, will reunite the entire original cast and creative team-including director Lear deBessonet, Taylor Mac as Shen Tei / Shui Ta, and Cesar Alvarez and the band The Lisps-from the sold-out La MaMa presentation in February 2013. Tickets will go on sale later this year.

Public Theater Artistic Director Oskar Eustis and Executive Director Patrick Willingham announced the line-up today for The Public's 2013-2014 season, continuing the theater's nearly 60 year tradition of producing Shakespeare and the classics, musicals, contemporary and experimental works in equal measure while engaging a wide range of audiences and artists at its six downtown theaters at Astor Place, including Joe's Pub, as well as the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. The Public's 58th season will also celebrate the 10th anniversary of the acclaimed Under the Radar Festival and the 15th anniversary of the world-renowned Joe's Pub. 'This season - whether classics, new plays, musicals or experimental ensembles - speaks to the way we live now,' said Artistic Director Oskar Eustis. Due to popular demand, American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) has announced the extension of the Bay Area premiere of The Scottsboro Boys, the critically acclaimed musical based on a tragic chapter in American history. Tickets are now on sale through Sunday, July 22. Preview performances begin tomorrow, June 21, with opening night scheduled for Wednesday, June 27.
