See Chicago Dance, the dance industry's nonprofit service organization currently hosting  the 11th Chicago Dance Month with more than 60 events around Chicago celebrating the myriad talents that make Chicago's dance scene so strong, has announced its 2023 Community Celebration & Awards Presentation.

Cirque du Soleil’s Corteo lands at the Microsoft Theatre March 23, 2023. Corteo, usually a somber procession (translated from ‘cortege’ in Italian) receives a colorful, joyous make-over as only Cirque de Soleil can do, with an international cast of clowns, acrobats, contortionists and musicians. I got the chance to get some behind-the-scenes tidbits from Corteo’s vocalist Sofia Montano.

On a balmy 70 degree summer day in a northern Texas suburb, Cirque du Soleil made an effort to bring a winter wonderland to life with Crystal. Billed to be the first Cirque production on ice combining 'high-level ice skating' with its idiosyncratic circus fare, I regrettably report that this production was two revolutions short of a triple lutz.

Ovens Auditorium will host PAW Patrol Live! 'The Great Pirate Adventure' from June 22 to 24 with six performances. Tickets go on sale on Friday, Feb. 16 at 10 a.m. and can be purchased online at Ticketmaster.com, by phone at 800-745-3000, at all Ticketmaster outlets or at the Bojangles' Coliseum Box Office located at 2700 E. Independence Blvd. Tickets cost between $21 and $127 (plus applicable service charges) and are subject to change.

Bubble Guppies Live! Ready to Rock rolls into Orlando and the Walt Disney Theater on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at 2 p.m. Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday, January 26, 2018 at 10 a.m. Tickets start at $20.00. Put on your water wings and jump into a swimsational adventure! VStar Entertainment Group, Nickelodeon and Koba Entertainment present the U.S. debut of the live theatrical production Bubble Guppies Live! Ready to Rock. Based on Nickelodeon's hit preschool series Bubble Guppies, the show swims into Washington, D.C.'s National Theatre on Sunday, April 8, 2018 for performances at 2pm and 6pm.

Opening in December 1993, the show is still running and still delivers a terrific and spectacular performance.

For this performance, the Cirque production team and California Symphony have developed a unique program specifically for the Orchestra and the special characteristics of the Scottish Rite Center. The artists of Cirque de la Symphonie will execute their spectacular feats to music ranging from Bizet's Carmen to John Williams (music from Indiana Jones and Superman), Leonard Bernstein's Candide Overture, Arturo Marquez's Danzon No. 2, Debussy's Clair du lune, Offenbach's Can-Can No. 4, and Brahms' Hungarian Dance No. 6, and the orchestra plays music from Aaron Copland (Rodeo from Hoe-Down), Richard Rodgers (Carousel Waltz), and Strauss (Emperor Waltz). Who hasn't wanted to run away with the circus at some point in their lives? The ephemeral world created under the big top has always managed to entice with the glamour of its imaginary delights. Acrobats and elephants, beautiful people flying through the air, and the side show of unimaginable curiosities - they are all part of the ultimate escape from an otherwise ordinary world to a place where the extraordinary exists.

Neil Goldberg who created and directed CIRQUE DREAMS HOLIDAZE, wanted to create a Cirque show that was not only family-friendly, but one that could tour the country. His ideas, based partly on his own ornament collection, came to fruition with this unique holiday extravaganza. It's filled with music (some original by Jill Winters and David Scott, as well as Lance Conque and Tony Aliperti), but also a number of familiar seasonal favorites), incredible circus performers (sans animals, of course, although some performers portray different ones, like rope-skipping reindeers), and a colorful staging that's incredibly busy with movement. This eye-popping show is currently playing The Fox Theatre through December 6, 2015.

CIRQUE DREAMS HOLIDAZE lights up the 2014 holiday season with its newest holiday stage spectacular on Monday, December 29, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. and Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Both performances will take place at the Benedum Center, located at 237 7th Street, downtown Pittsburgh. This event is presented by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust as part of the Cohen & Grigsby Trust Presents series. Music soars to stunning new heights along with aerial fliers and acrobats, when they (plus contortionists, dancers, jugglers and strongmen) perform their death- and gravity-defying Cirque feats to popular classical masterpieces—all live, on stage and dramatically backed by a full orchestra for Pacific Symphony Pops. This jaw-dropping fusion of two art forms wows Symphony audiences of all ages for a third time, as the internationally recognized and award-winning artists of “Cirque de la Symphonie” take to the air and push themselves to the limit in a “spectacular event” that couples the “magical musical styling of Pacific Symphony” with the “playfulness of acrobats sharing the same stage,” according to A Taste of Dawn Magazine in a review that followed a performance in April 2012.

The Tobin Center for the Performing Arts today announced the performance calendar for its inaugural 2014-15 season, with a total of 33 productions, performing groups and individual artists - exclusive of September grand opening events and subscription performances by its resident companies. The initial schedule totals 73 performances. And, there are more to come.
