Playwrights Foundation, the West Coast's premier launchpad for exceptional new plays and playwrights, has revealed the semifinalists and finalists for the 46th Bay Area Playwrights Festival, which will be presented in a hybrid festival.

Atlantic Theater Company has announced a final extension for the world premiere musical Days of Wine and Roses. Adapted from the 1962 film and original 1958 teleplay, the new musical features a book by Tony Award nominee Craig Lucas, music & lyrics by Tony Award winner Adam Guettel, and direction by Tony Award nominee Michael Greif.

Roundabout Theatre Company has just  announced Tony & Emmy Award winner Tyne Daly and Tony & SAG Award winner Liev Schreiber will star in the new Broadway production of John Patrick Shanley’s Tony Award & Pulitzer Prize-winning play Doubt: A Parable, with direction by Tony Award nominee Scott Ellis.

On Tuesday, May 23, 2023, I had the excellent opportunity to sit down with Eric Sciotto, Director and Choreographer of Rock of Ages at MTWichita, and Brian J. Marcum, Artistic Director at MTWichita. It was a wide ranging interview, with a very stream of consciousness feel, and they were gracious enough to grant me an hour over a lunch break during rehearsal last Tuesday. The energy was high, and I was able to get some excellent insight into Eric’s choreographic process. I also spoke to Brian about leading MTWichita into a new era.

Providing assistance to young conductors in the early stages of their careers and thereby helping to continue the art form, The Solti Foundation U.S. has selected a record 22 young conductors to receive a 2023 Career Assistance Award (CAA).

Downtown Brooklyn Partnership (DBP) has announced a lineup of dance performances and workshops at The Plaza at 300 Ashland. Kim Cattrall will be making a cameo in the new season of And Just Like That..., the Sex & the City reboot on Max. Cattrall will be reprising her role as Samanthan Jones for one scene that she filmed on March 22 in New York City. Cattrall shot her dialogue alone, with no communication with any of the show's stars, including Sarah Jessica Parker.

Lobby Theatre will debut for the first time in Los Angeles with a staged reading of Aleshea Harris’s Obie Award-winning play, ‘IS GOD IS,’ starring Merle Dandridge, Jayme Lawson, Regina Taylor, and Dominique Thorne.
