Bristol School of Acting has announced a complete season of theatre productions staged at Bristol's Tobacco Factory Theatres this autumn. 

Final tickets are on sale this week for the Tony Award-winning Broadway production of Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella which will waltz into Brisbane's Lyric Theatre, QPAC next month on 5 August for a limited season. Pre-sales for tickets up to 3 September are available now and general public sales from Friday 15 July.

In theater, as in life, it’s all in the timing: Bucket List Productions’ Assassins: The Musical opened its Nashville run at Darkhorse Theater on Friday, July 8, the same day that former Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe died by an assassin’s gun. As news of Abe’s assassination reverberated throughout the world yesterday, it underscored the timelessness and the unfortunate relevance of the Stephen Sondheim-John Weidman musical outside the oftentimes fanciful, yet eerily prescient, world of musical theater.

The streets of Victorian England come to life as Oliver, a malnourished orphan in a workhouse, becomes the neglected apprentice of an undertaker. Oliver escapes to London and finds acceptance amongst a group of petty thieves and pickpockets led by the elderly Fagin. When Oliver is captured for a theft that he did not commit, the benevolent victim, Mr. Brownlow takes him in. Fearing the safety of his hideout, Fagin employs the sinister Bill Sikes and the sympathetic Nancy to kidnap him back, threatening Oliver’s chances of discovering the true love of a family. Festival of Cinema NYC will return for its 6th year, as a live in-person 10-day event, August 5 - August 14. Taking place at the Regal UA Midway theater in Forest Hills, Queens, FOC NYC will showcase 124 independent films from more than 25 countries, with over 90 anticipated filmmakers to be in attendance.

Led by Marcos Mena, the pair boast a fruitful combination of musical chops and catchy guitar-driven melodies which has garnished popularity for their danceable brand of instrumental rock. Mongolian rock act THE HU have announced details of their long-awaited sophomore album RUMBLE OF THUNDER, recorded via Better Noise Music, and released a new single called “Black Thunder” along with an official music video. A fresh take on a classic fairy tale comes to the stage as the Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas presents its summer musical, 'Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella.' Performances are set for 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, July 22-23, and July 29-30; and 2 p.m. Sunday, July 24 and July 31.

Shakespeare in Clark Park is bringing a night of raucous comedy to Clark Park from July 27th to July 31st at 7pm, with The Taming! a comedy in two very different acts. The Taming! pairs Shakespeare’s problematic masterpiece, The Taming of the Shrew, with a community-created adaptation of John Fletcher’s Elizabethan revenge play, The Tamer Tamed.

Paines Plough announces their appointment of Jodie Gilliam as their new Executive Director. Jodie joins Paines Plough from Shubbak where she was Head of Finance and Operations, and will form an integral part of the company, led by Joint Artistic Directors Charlotte Bennett and Katie Posner. 

The Jewish Plays Project has announced Madeleines, by Bess Welden of Portland, Maine, has won the 11th annual Jewish Playwriting Contest. The play earned its title after over 1,400 voters across the United States and Israel chose their preference for the best new Jewish play.
