Fresh off of the release of tick, tick...BOOM!, Lin-Manuel Miranda's new film Encanto is out now! BroadwayWorld caught up with Miranda to discuss creating music for film instead of Broadway, his experiences writing Moana backstage at Hamilton, and more!

Disney has released a brand new clip of 'We Don't Talk About Bruno', one of the musical numbers from Encanto written by Lin-Manuel Miranda. The voice cast of the new animated film features Stephanie Beatriz, John Leguizamo, Diane Guerrero, Wilmer Valderrama, Maluma, and more.

The Encanto Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, featuring eight original songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda and a score by Germaine Franco, has been released. After a two-year absence, Mildred Umbrella comes back with the regional premiere of El Huracan by Charise Castro Smith. This production reopens a theatre, reestablishes their commitment to telling female-centric stories, and promises a more diverse future for Mildred's Umbrella where they continue to tell stories about people from many different backgrounds. To do all this, and probably a lot more, they've come back with a play that's up to the task.

Soho Rep. today announced a robust 2021-22 season with which it will reopen its home at 46 Walker Street. Mildred's Umbrella Theater Company launches their 2021-2022 LIVE season with the Houston premier of EL HURACÁN, by Cuban-American playwright, Charise Castro Smith. Directed by award-winning Cuban-American actor/director, Patricia Duran, the play will feature a Latinx cast and crew, and will be the first live performance for Mildred's Umbrella since the pandemic shut our doors in March 2020.

May and Managing Director Kisha Jarrett,  have begun succession planning and are collaborating to ensure a smooth artistic leadership transition. In the midst of the transition, the non-profit organization launches its return to in-person production with its 39th season of intimate, provocative theatre.

Mildred’s Umbrella Theater Company will return to live performances with their 20th SEASON!  Once called ‘the little company that could” by the Houston Press, Mildred’s was formed in 2001 by Jennifer Decker and John Harvey in order to produce one of Harvey’s plays.

It was announced today the Parent Artist Advocacy League for Performing Arts and Media will present a virtual concert showcasing the original work of mom-composers/lyricists, brought to life by mom-singers and musicians (and a couple of dads!) from Broadway stages and beyond, to stream on International Mother Artist Day, Monday, August 2 at 7 PM.

The new trailer includes an original song from the film, “Colombia, Mi Encanto.”

After a 15-month shutdown due to the COVID-19 epidemic, proprietors Steve Baruch, Richard Frankel, and Tom Viertel have announced that “Broadway’s Supper Club” Feinstein’s/54 Below will reopen its iconic red door for live performances on June 17, 2021.
