Celina Carvajal (Kinky Boots) and Bryce Ryness (Around the World in 80 Days,Hair) will star in a presentation of SALVAGE, a new musical by Harris Doran and Arthur LaFrentz Bacon tonight, May 13, 2013 at 7:30 PM at the Daryl Roth Theatre in New York City as part of New York Theatre Barn's revolutionary new musical development platform NYTB in the D-Lounge, executive produced by Laura Brandel and Jason Najjoum.

The Off-Broadway League today gave out awards in 14 categories and two additional special awards for the 2013 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway. The Lortel Awards were handed out on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at NYU Skirball Center, hosted by acclaimed stage and screen actors Aasif Mandvi and Maura Tierney. Masterworks Broadway has just announced the release of the Original Broadway Cast Recording of Kinky Boots. Produced by Cyndi Lauper, Stephen Oremus, William Wittman and Sammy James, Jr., the album will be available on Tuesday, May 28th, 2013.

The previously announced Broadway in South Africa 5th Anniversary Celebration-a star-studded concert of original music based on essays and letters from South African students who participate in their youth development programs-will now take place at Avenues, the World School, a brand new state-of-the-art 'world school' and 'integrated learning community, located on the High Line. Sundance Institute just presented playwright and Sundance Institute Theatre Lab alum Branden Jacobs-Jenkins with the first-ever Tennessee Williams Award from the Institute's Theatre Program, which supports the development of new work for the stage. Sundance Institute Emeritus Trustee Sally Field presented the honor and accompanying $10,000 grant at the Celebrate Sundance Institute benefit for its Theatre Program last night at Stephan Weiss Studio in Greenwich Village. The question gave me pause. It hadn't occurred to me until that moment that many of the parents in our community might be shocked to hear that my nine year old is asking these kinds of questions. But I wanted her to know that when we hide something, we imply that it's bad or shameful, and that makes people afraid, and fear makes people do mean things. I would never let my daughter see a play that was violent or scary, and am trying to raise her up to be a person who doesn't hurt other people. Someone that accepts people for who they are.
