South Coast Repertory opens the 2017-18 Theatre for Young Audiences series with the popular Ella Enchanted: The Musical, Oct. 27-Nov.12. This play, based on the book by Gail Carson Levine, has been adapted for the stage by Karen Zacar as, with music by Deborah Wicks La Puma. Casey Stangl (Fully Committed) returns to the Jungle from Los Angeles to direct Jennifer Haley's award-winning The Nether opening September 16 and on stage through October 15 at the Lyn-Lake neighborhood theater, 2951 Lyndale Ave. S. in Minneapolis. Last night, stars of the stage and screen dazzled a full house at the Theatre at ACE Hotel during the first ever The 24 Hour Musicals: Los Angeles. The event raised money for the Dramatists Legal Defense Fund, a nonprofit arm of the Dramatists Guild of America, which advocates for the freedom of expression on behalf of all who are confronting censorship on stages across America.
