Utah Symphony Announces 2019-20 Season

Music Director Thierry Fischer and President & CEO Paul Meecham today announced the Utah Symphony's 2019-20 season, with highlights including multimedia concert experiences featuring the twelve movements of Messiaen's Des canyons aux toiles (From the canyons to the stars), the release of Berlioz and Prokofiev recordings on the Hyperion Records and Reference Recordings respectively, and a celebration of Beethoven's 250th birthday in 2020. Additional highlights include the return of American composer Andrew Norman to present three of his orchestral works and work with young Utah musicians in his second year as Composer-in-Association; a gala concert with violinist Joshua Bell celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Utah Symphony's first-ever performance, which took place on May 8, 1940; and a tribute to Hispanic Heritage that includes music by Latin-American composers conducted by guest artist Carlos Miguel Prieto. Broadway Dance Lab Founding Artistic Director Josh Prince (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical) announced today that the non-profit organization will officially become Dance Lab New York (DLNY) today, Friday, February 1, 2019. While the mission will remain the same, the new name and branding is emblematic of the organization's service to the greater dance and theater community while also allowing for partnership opportunities with major arts organizations in New York City and around the world.

The North American tour of the Tony and Grammy Award-winning hit musical Beautiful- The Carole King Musical welcomes Dylan S. Wallach (Gerry Goffin) and Alison Whitehurst (Cynthia Weil). The two artists join Sarah Bockel (Carole King), Jacob Heimer (Barry Mann), James Clow (Don Kirshner) and Suzanne Grodner (Genie Klein). Beautiful - The Carole King Musical will return to St. Louis at the Fabulous Fox Theatre on March 12, 2019 for a limited engagement through March 17, 2019.

The Warren Miller Performing Arts Center (Executive Director John Zirkle) in Big Sky Montana announced today it will present a limited engagement of Jason Robert Brown's award-winning musical THE LAST FIVE YEARS, directed by Jason McDowell-Green and starring Abby Mueller as Cathy and Ben Jacoby as Jamie. Mueller and Jacoby were recently seen together on Broadway in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, where the pair starred as Carole and Gerry Goffin, King's first husband.
