Steps on Broadway, one of the world’s most respected and influential dance training centers, will celebrate its 45th anniversary with Steps in Concert.

Steps on Broadway, the internationally recognized dance training center, announced today that its Founder, Carol Paumgarten, passed away on Thursday evening, September 24, 2020, after a long illness. She leaves behind her husband, Nicholas, her sons, Nicholas, Jr. and Alexander, and four grandchildren.

The stars were on their feet (toes, taps and standing ovations) on a warm Sunday night, May 19th, for the Chita Rivera Awards a?" an annual ceremony recognizing the very best in dance on Broadway, Off-Broadway and in film that honors icons and trailblazers while also nurturing future generations simultaneously. It could have been dubbed a?oeChita Rivera's Dance Salona?? for the presenters, attendees and honorees read like a Who's Who of Chita's friends, fans and fellow Fosse favorites, including hosts Ben Vereen and Anne Reinking.

It was announced today that The Radio City Rockettes will open this year's Chita Rivera Awards with a show stopping performance of 'New York, New York.' The Rockettes history with Chita Rivera dates back more than 30 years when the renowned precision dance company performed alongside Rivera in the 1988 tour of Can-Can. 

Steps on Broadway, the internationally-recognized dance training center now in its 39th year, announced today that it has reached an agreement with Joe Lanteri for him to become co-owner of Steps and take the role of executive director. The transaction is expected to close by the end of the month. Carol Paumgarten, who founded the company, will partner with Lanteri to develop and execute the vision and direction to take Steps forward into its next forty years.

Steps on Broadway, NYC's legendary professional dance center committed to training and maintaining the integrity of the art form, will complete the Conservatory spring semester with a bi-annual performance on June 3, 2017 at 8:00 p.m.

From a humble beginning in 1979 when Carol Paumgarten, the Artistic Director of Steps on Broadway with her then partner Patrice Soriero opened for business in a small space on 56th and Broadway in NYC, Steps has burgeoned into a bustling, internationally acclaimed dance studio boasting top teachers and a huge clientele that ranges from pre-schoolers to leading professional dancers.

Steps on Broadway, NYC's legendary professional dance center committed to training and maintaining the integrity of the art form, announces an educational partnership with American Dance Machine for the Twenty-First Century (ADM21).

On the evening of Sunday, October 13th 2013, an invitation-only crowd filed into Studio II at Steps on Broadway in NYC to share fond memories of David Howard, the beloved ballet teacher who once said that he arrived in New York 'as an upstart and became part of the American Dream.'

The NYC Dance Alliance Foundation held its 1st Annual Bright Lights, Shining Stars Gala at the Jack H. Skirball Center for the Performing Arts at NYU and clearly delivered on its promise of a star studded evening of music & dance with one show-stopping number after another. Following cocktails hosted by Honorary Co-Chairs Cassandra Seidenfeld Lyster and Robin Cofer, eager guests flooded into the elegant theater for an evening of unforgettable moments.

Harold Prince will present five-time Tony Award-winner Susan Stroman with an Elan Award at the gala awards ceremony on October 10th

Geoffrey Doig-Marx, Bruce Robert Harris and Dance Spirit Magazine will present the 6th Annual Elan Awards, honoring Susan Stroman, presented by Hal Prince. This amazing event will take place on Monday, October 10, 2005 at FIT's Haft Auditorium (227 West 27th Street), beginning 7PM.
