The world premiere of EVER WILL: The Early Years and Final Days of William Shakespeare With Music and Songs staged reading opens this Saturday! The show is the Helen Borgers Theatre home of the Long Beach Shakespeare Company.

Up next for IAMA, John Lavelle’s The Very Best People opening October 5, 2024, at Atwater Village (with previews September 29th through October 4th). Melissa Coleman-reed directs the cast of Adrián González, Andria Kozica, Bryan Langlitz, Joseph Russo and Margaux Susi. Margaux, also IAMA’s associate artistic director, made time to talk to me before going to rehearsal.

Previews take place on Feb. 28 and March 1, with opening night set for March 2 and performances continuing through April 21.

Bottom line? If you have an opportunity to check out one of the four remaining performances at Wolf Trap this weekend, it is worthwhile to do so.

MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET is a crowd-pleasing favorite of both theater and music fans alike. The vibrant jukebox musical tells the story of the world's most infamous impromptu jam sessions. Filled with toe-tapping hits and tons of heart, I chatted with Gabe Bowling (Carl Perkins) and Bryan Langlitz (Sam Phillips) about the spirited musical.

While it is certainly a fact that on December 4, 1956, Sun Records was host to an incredible gathering of talent (Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis), a listen to the actual recordings made that day were more along the lines of favorite folk and gospel numbers that the four shared in common. And though some of that does come through, the stage musical, MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET, utilizes this historic meeting as a jumping off point for an evening of truly classic rock and roll, with some other more reverent material sprinkled in for good measure. But honestly, a faithful recreation of the truth would be a bit of a letdown to most fans, so instead we're treated to a re-imagining that might bend the truth a bit (book by Colin Escott and Floyd Mutrux), but only in the quest to give audiences a glimpse at what could have been.

Ashley Kate Adams, actress and producer, will star as Athena in 'The Anthem' now at the Culture Project in New York City. This original show is based on the book of the same name by Ayn Rand. Adams shared some insights about the show and her career with Broadwayworld.com.

When the Tony-winning MEMPHIS closed on Broadway in 2012, producers announced that a West End production was coming soon. According to the UK Daily Mail, soon could be in 2014, at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London's West End, following a scheduled run of THE PAJAMA GAME.
