BWW Interview: Abigail Brooks Lehre of AMERICAN IDOL Season 20

Abigail Brooks Lehrer (Abby Lehrer) is from Castle Rock Colorado, she is a singer and songwriter, and TikTok star. She competed on American Idol Season 20 and her audition aired last weekend. She recently graduated from the Institute for American Musical Theatre. She currently resides in New York City and works in a cafe. When the cafe is empty she sings with a broom in hand as her microphone. She also used the broom for her microphone at her audition. She did score the golden ticket to Hollywood!

Responding to the challenges of structural racism in performing arts institutions across the U.S. and Canada, Live Arts Centers of North America (LACNA), a coalition of more than 50 of the largest performing arts centers in both countries, and the LACNA Foundation today announced the launch of the BIPOC Executive Leadership in the Arts Program.

Orion Ensemble Welcomes Guests Stephen Boe and Roger Chase for Spring Concerts

​​​​​​​The Orion Ensemble concludes its 29th season with a concert program welcoming guest violinist Stephen Boe and guest violist Roger Chase and featuring works by Mozart and Borodin at three venues: New England Congregational Church in Aurora (May 8), PianoForte Studios in Chicago (May 11) and Nichols Concert Hall in Evanston (May 15). The Chicago and Evanston performances also will be available via livestream.

BWW Review: PIPELINE at Seattle Public Theater

Dear Readers, if you’re familiar with Dominique Morisseau’s play, “Pipeline”, currently playing at Seattle Public Theater, you know what a striking play it is. Filled with resonant themes and high intensity moments, the show can knock you off your feet. But more than anything, it’s about real people and real situations in our all too real, and all too troubled world. So, it needs to feel real. And while most in the SPT production were up to that task, there were some that I didn’t feel the commitment to being real which took me out of the piece.
