Canadian Stage Artistic & General Director Matthew Jocelyn, along with internationally-acclaimed Canadian-born Soprano Barbara Hannigan, will represent Canada at the 2017 edition of the UK's Glyndebourne Festival, one of the world's oldest and most celebrated opera festivals. 

Robert Binet, Choreographic Associate with The National Ballet of Canada, creates a new full-length ballet for Theatre Ballet Moscow, The Kreutzer Sonata. Based on Leo Tolstoy's novella of the same name, The Kreutzer Sonata makes its world premiere June 1 – July 13, 2017 with five performances at The Meyerhold Theatre Centre in Moscow.

At a press conference held May 30 in the lobby of the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts, the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) announced 235 nominations for the 38th Annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards, which recognize excellence in the performing arts in Toronto.

Sheridan College's Canadian Music Theatre Project (CMTP), under the leadership of Michael Rubinoff, Associate Dean of Visual and Performing Arts, is an international centre of excellence for the development of new musicals in Canada. Since its inception in 2011, 15 shows have been incubated, with four having enjoyed their professional premieres (Come From Away, The Theory of Relativity, Prom Queen and Marathon of Hope) and one opening on Broadway in 2017 (Come From Away). The trio of art-inspired musicals will be performed at Toronto's Art Gallery of Ontario.

BRIC is pleased to welcome Brooklyn songwriter Mirah Yom Tov Zeitlyn and Los Angeles musical polymath Jherek Bischoff to BRIC House on May 5. The night will feature sets from both Mirah and Bischoff, with a euphonious string quartet rounding out the band. Expect to hear tried and true favorites from their back catalog along with new music from both Mirah and Bischoff's forthcoming albums. The sets will also feature Kane Mathis on the Kora, a complex 21 string West African chordophone, and Deerhoof's Greg Saunier on percussion.

Final casting has been announced for BLAME CANADA!, an evening featuring the best in Canadian musical theatre happening at 54 BELOW on Monday, June 15 at 9:30pm. Clyde Alves, who currently stars as Ozzie in the Broadway revival of On The Town, hosts the evening that celebrates work by members of the Canadian Musical Theatre Writers Collective (CMTWC).
