The Segal Centre will welcome back the uproarious and thought provoking Bad Jews, written by Joshua Harmon and directed by Lisa Rubin. Having received critical and public acclaim when it premiered in Montreal in 2016, Bad Jews is returning to the Segal Studio from November 8 to November 26, 2017.

The Montreal Gazette called Bad Jews a "ferociously entertaining" production.

When three cousins gather in a cramped Manhattan apartment to mourn the death of their beloved grandfather and fight over a precious family heirloom, they learn there is much more at stake than who gets what. Bursting with crisp, fast-paced dialogue, Bad Jews is an exciting exploration of faith, family and legacy that is as poignant as it is viciously funny.

Of Bad Jews, Artistic & Executive Director and Director Lisa Rubin says:

"This daring and hilarious play about the current generation of young people grappling with the responsibility of memory, legacy, and identity resonated with audiences from all walks of life in a powerful way. So much so, that I don't think our conversations about it are finished. We are thrilled to bring it back so that we can keep exploring these ideas together along with our electrifying cast, and through the brilliant writing of Joshua Harmon."

One of the most talked about new plays!

Bad Jews received its world premiere at Roundabout Underground and has become one of the most popular comedies of recent years, taking Off-Broadway NY, and the West End by storm. The New York Times hailed Bad Jews as "the best comedy of the season," and The New York Post proclaimed it's "delicious, nasty, good fun."

Featuring an all-star, all-Canadian cast

The Segal is thrilled to welcome back three members of the vibrant young cast which made the production such a success the first time around, including former Montrealer Jamie Elman(Student Bodies, Mad Men, and the award-winning hit Yiddish web series YidLife Crisis) as Liam Haber, a hot-tempered intellectual; Jake Goldsbie (Degrassi: The Next Generation, Being Erica and Kids in the Hall) as Jonah Haber, his much more level-headed younger brother; and Sarah Segal-Lazar (Talk Mackerel, In Memoriam and her recent debut album Two if by Sea) as their more traditional and fiery cousin Daphna Feygenbaum. Joining the cast as Liam's "shiksa" girlfriend, Melody, is Ellen Denny, who is currently wowing audiences in the acclaimed Canadian Stage world premiere of Britta Johnson's Life After. This incredible cast is supported by an impressive creative team including Brian Dudkiewicz (Set and Costume Design), Itai Erdal (Lighting Design), and Dmitri Marine (Sound Design).
