The artistry of four remarkable women is showcased in Leslie Orofino's new cabaret show, SHINE!

Actress/singer, Leslie Orofino brings her sensational new show SHINE- the music/lives of 4 fearless women ~ who when things got tough ~ they got stronger ~ and became the Stars that Shine even today ... Lady Gaga, Peggy Lee, Dorothy Fields and Alberta Hunter to N.Y. and Ct. It's Broadway, Blues, Jazz, Contemporary and a whole lot of fun! Musicians, Kenneth Gartman on piano and Boots Maleson on bass. It can be quite intimidating to perform in the Friars Club. Pre show a performer might be relaxing in the Billy Crystal Room on the main floor or upstairs in the Barbra Streisand Room.

Birdland will kick-off their great week of programming with the following acts.

Singer- pianist Daryl Sherman returns to Birdland Theater on Tuesday, April 16th with Spring Fever at 7:00 PM and 9:45 PM, with Boots Maleson on bass and special guest, trombonist Art Baron, who played with Duke Ellington in his last orchestra. The show includes songs from Sherman's CD, Lost In A Crowded Place. with samplings of Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald and some Sherman originals.

Award-winning recording artist and entertainer, Marieann Meringolo, brings her theatrical concert Between Yesterday and Tomorrow: The Songs of Alan & Marilyn Bergman to Don't Tell Mama(where her cabaret roots began 30 years ago) today, March 8th at 7:00 PM. The show is directed by award-winning Will Nunziata, with Music Direction by Doyle Newmyer, and with Boots Maleson on bass and Sipho Kunene on drums.

It's where her cabaret roots were sprouting just a mere 30 years ago...And, now she is delighted to once again grace the renowned stage for a One Night Only Event on March 8th, 2019 at 7:00 p.m.

The 47th season of Highlights In Jazz kicks off with an all-star concert featuring pianist/vocalist Daryl Sherman, saxophonist Houston Person, trumpeter Warren Vaché, clarinetist/saxophonist Ken Peplowski, pianist Norman Simmons, bassist Boots Maleson, and guitarist James Chirillo, plus a special surprise guest.

You'll hear unforgettable performances from jazz veterans including Warren Vaché, Houston Person, and Norman Simmons; up-and-comers like Veronica Swift, Christian Sands, and Peter and Will Anderson; and straight-ahead stalwarts such as Steve Turre, George Cables, Buster Williams, along with many more. These gifted players and others will pay tribute to a pantheon of jazz legends, including this year's featured honoree, trumpeter Randy Brecker; plus, the music of Randy Weston, Erroll Garner, Sidney Bechet, Louis Armstrong will also be featured.
