Improvisación, Teatro Gestual Y Tradición Oral Mexicana, En Tres Montajes De La Coordinación Nacional De Teatro

Tres puestas en escena realizadas a partir de la improvisación, el teatro gestual, la tradición oral mexicana y el clown, iniciarán temporada el próximo sábado 15 de junio en diversos espacios teatrales del Centro Cultural del Bosque, presentadas por la Coordinación Nacional de Teatro del Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura (INBAL), con el fin de atender a los diversos públicos que gustan de las artes escénicas a través de distintas propuestas originales y creativas.

I HATE HAMLET Comes to Centers for Performing Arts Bonita Springs

Center for Performing Arts Bonita Springs launches its new year and new season with the Paul Rudnick comedy I HATE HAMLET, running July 18-21 at the Moe Auditorium and Film Center. Rudnick is probably best known for the Sister Act screenplay, and his plays include Jeffrey, The Naked Eye and the more recent Regrets Only.

Funny Shorts LIVE! Comes to Center for Performing Arts Bonita Springs

Center for Performing Arts Bonita Springs presents Funny Shorts LIVE! on June 14 and 15, featuring six short plays in an evening of comedic storytelling. The six plays feature writers from around the world, along with one local playwright, Shawn Ryan with his short play NAP TIME which will star Marilyn Hilbert, Kip Jones and Sheila Hand.

Cangaco was the banditism phenomenon of Northeast Brazil in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This region of Brazil is known for its aridness and hard way of life, and in a form of 'social banditry' against the government, many men and women decided to become nomadic bandits, roaming the hinterlands seeking money, food and revenge. With text and lyrics by Newton Moreno, direction by Sergio Modena and musical direction by Fernanda Maia, the show is free inspired by testimonies of women involved in the Cangaco and exalts the female force. Tickets are free.

Cincinnati Arts Association Announces DANCING FOR THE STARS 2019 Winners

Halle Quinn (Community Volunteer) and her dance pro Alyenendrov Tsorokean (Phoenix Rising Ballroom) received a perfect score of 40, taking first place at the Cincinnati Arts Association's thirteenth-annual Dancing for the Stars on Saturday, April 13 at the Music Hall Ballroom. Michael Betz (Senior Brand Manager, Strategic Brand Marketing, Gannett, Cincinnati Enquirer) took home the Fundraising Champion Award, as the celebrity who raised the most money for the event through ticket sales and donations.

Jessica Lea Patty Performs with CSArts-SGV Students at Bonita Center for the Arts

California School of the Arts - San Gabriel Valley (CSArts-SGV) Musical Theatre students take the stage with Broadway actress Jessica Lea Patty for the school's second annual "Performing with the Pros." The performance occurs after a four-week-long artist-in-residence program. During that time, the students work alongside Patty to put together an energetic, cabaret-style show featuring music from Broadway hits and stories from her career. The event takes place at Bonita Center for the Arts on Saturday, April 6 at 7 p.m.

CAA Announces 2019 Overture Awards Winners

The Cincinnati Arts Association announces the winners of its Overture Awards Competition, held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at the Aronoff Center's Jarson-Kaplan Theater, and the winner of its Arts Educator Award for Excellence in Arts Instruction. The competition awarded $4,000 to six area students for education and training, with 18 runners-up each winning $1,000, while the Arts Educator Award winner received $2,500 and two finalists were awarded $500 each.

Quentin Earl Darrington, Sasha Allen, Jeremy Hays, and More Will Lead a Reading of New Musical MANDELA

A private, invitation only industry reading of the new musical Mandela will be held on Thursday, March 14 and Friday, March 15, 2019. Mandela has music and lyrics by two South African composer/lyricists signed to Sony/ATV Music Publishing, Greg Dean Borowsky and Shaun Borowsky, with a book by Laiona Michelle (Little Girl Blue: The Nina Simone Musical). This reading is directed by Schele Williams (Rent, Motown: The Musical), with music direction by Alvin Hough, Jr. (Once On This Island). Fifth Estate Entertainment (Nathan Gehan/Jamison Scott) serves as general manager for the reading. The reading will be attended by Nandi Mandela, Nelson Mandela's granddaughter, on behalf of the Mandela family who have officially partnered with the show.

BWW Review: A Modern Day OTHELLO Finds Humor Amid the Horror of Revenge

Never has the relationship between Iago and Roderigo in Shakespeare's OTHELLO stolen the show like it does in the current A Noise Within production, directed by Jessica Kubzansky. With an outwardly nonchalant Michael Manuel as the revenge seeking villain, and Jeremy Rabb, an actor who knows comedy like the back of his hand, as his unsuspecting lackey, the situational humor in Shakespeare's tragedy comes front and center. That's right, humor.
