The 2019 - 2020 season of the Carlsen Center Presents Series continues with Winterlude - Ensemble Ibérica Siento y Vivo (I Feel and Live), on Sunday, December 8, 7 p.m. in Polsky Theatre.
Bette Davis and John Wayne to Bo Diddley and Bob Dylan, the State Theatre in Portland has seen its share of stars since it first opened its doors on November 8, 1929. On Friday, November 8, 2019, the theatre will kick off a celebration of its 90th birthday with a week-long scavenger hunt around Portland with ticket and merchandise giveaways to mark the historic occasion. Details will be available via the State Theatre pages on Facebook and Instagram. Additional special events will be planned for November and December.
Once again the holiday-funk spectacular Holidelic - the brainchild of Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter, producer, actor and dancer Everett Bradley - will usher in the holiday season at Club Helsinki Hudson, this year with a two-night stand on Saturday, December 21, at 9pm, and Sunday, December 22, at 8pm. Part dance party, part funk concert, part comedy show, the Yuletide-themed event features original holiday songs as well as loose, funk-infused adaptations of Tchaikovsky, 'Frosty the Snowman,' 'Little Drummer Boy' and the like.
The Bay Area's favorite Clown Prince of Fools, Unique Derique, returns to The Marsh Berkeley for his annual holiday show offering brand new, mindfully comedic mishaps for all ages with Fool La La: Once Upon a Mind. Audiences are invited to dive into the imagination of Unique Derique as he embarks on a whimsical adventure of mindfoolness through the wacky lens of clown logic. Packed with his trademark circus-inspired tricks, Fool La La: Once Upon a Mind sends Unique Derique on a joyful journey where the past and the future collide in delightfully absurd ways. After the show, Unique Derique invites audiences to join in a free 20-minute juggling and hambone workshop for the whole family. Fool La La: Once Upon a Mind will be presented December 27, 2019 a?" The Cincinnati May Festival announced program details and artists for the 2020 Festival with nine performances taking place between May 21 and 31, 2020 at Cincinnati Music Hall as well as other locations, and an additional performance on April 5, 2020 at the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption in Covington, Kentucky.
