The New York Youth Symphony (NYYS), composed of orchestra, chamber, jazz, conducting, and composition programs-heads into the 2015/16 season having provided over 5,000 music students between ages 12 and 22 unparalleled opportunities to perform at world-class venues including Carnegie Hall and Jazz at Lincoln Center and to study with world-renowned artists, all tuition-free. Twenty-nine years after it premiered, playwright Jerry Mayer's "funny, touching and true-to-heart" (Variety) hit comedy ALMOST PERFECT returns to Santa Monica Playhouse as part of the Playhouse's three-year Jerry Mayer-a-thon, reuniting Mayer with director Chris DeCarlo who directed the successful 20th anniversary production of Mayer's acclaimed comedy Aspirin & ELEPHANTS (Critics' Pick, LA TIMES). Extended by popular demand, the show is now playing weekends through August 23, 2015.
Eddie Murphy to Receive the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, 10/18

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts will present the 18th annual Mark Twain Prize for American Humor to Eddie Murphy on October 18, 2015 in the Kennedy Center Concert Hall. The Prize, which is named to honor one of the world's greatest humorists, will be given at a gala performance featuring some of the biggest names in comedy, and will be taped for broadcast nationwide. Event tickets will go on sale through the Kennedy Center's Special Events Office on Monday, May 11.

The fantasy-adventure series opened with 5.4 million viewers for its 8-10 p.m. premiere telecast, edging out TNT's THE LAST SHIP to become cable's #1 new series launch for the year-to-date in Live + Same Day delivery.
