Jerry Mayer's ALMOST PERFECT Extends at Santa Monica Playhouse

By:

Twenty-nine years after it premiered, playwright Jerry Mayer's "funny, touching and true-to-heart" (Variety) hit comedy ALMOST PERFECT returns to Santa Monica Playhouse as part of the Playhouse's three-year Jerry Mayer-a-thon, reuniting Mayer with director Chris DeCarlo who directed the successful 20th anniversary production of Mayer's acclaimed comedy Aspirin & ELEPHANTS (Critics' Pick, LA TIMES). Extended by popular demand, the show is now playing weekends through August 23, 2015.

ALMOST PERFECT is recommended viewing for anyone who is in or would like to be in relationship.

Buddy falls for the perfect girl of his dreams. One small problem... he's married to Jenny. We watch his hilarious, guilt-ridden affair till he finally realizes his perfect dream girl is Jenny, his wife. "Its male idiocy that get savaged most by author Mayer who does such a remarkable job, in fact, that the men in the audience are laughing their heads off even as they're being gutted," says The Good Life.

"Almost Perfect" is "Almost Perfect!" agree Weekly Variety, Drama-Logue, The Outlook, News & Reviews, Park La Brea News and the B'nai B'rith Messenger.

Playwright Jerry Mayer has had an impressive career in television, writing and producing such prized shows as M*A*S*H, The Bob Newhart Show, All in the Family, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Facts of Life and five Mitzi Gaynor's TV Specials, plus her famous Las Vegas Act. The German translation of Aspirin & ELEPHANTS just opened in Hamburg.

Says DeCarlo "Experiencing a Jerry Mayer play brings us that much closer to the realization that no matter how serious life may appear, someone is always laughing. It might as well be us."
