On Tuesday, January 8, 2013, the Friars Club presented ELVIS: THE KING IN NEW YORK - A JAZZ & CABARET BIRTHDAY TRIBUTE. Inspired by the recent release of a lavish boxed set from Sony BMG containing all the extant audio and video recordings of Elvis Presley's only formal concert in New York.

Urban Stages (Frances Hill, Founding Artistic Director), in association with producer/director/lyricist Peter Napolitano announces a series of musical evenings entitled WINTER RHYTHMS 2012, beginning on Tuesday, December 4 and running through Friday, December 15, 2012 at Urban Stages Theatre (259 West 30th Street). Tony Lo Bianco reprises his award-winning role as Mayor Fiorello H. La Guardia in THE LITTLE FLOWER, which opened last night, October 23, at the Dicapo Opera Theatre (184 East 76th Street between Lexington and 3rd Ave). Written and directed by Mr. Lo Bianco, adapted from the play Hizzoner! by Paul Shyre, THE LITTLE FLOWER plays a special limited-run through Friday, November 2, 2012. On Monday, October 1, the Friars Club presented 'Remembering the Oak Room: A musical tribute by its headliners.' This 90-minute program was held in memory of the legendary cabaret venue, featuring nearly a dozen A-list performers whose careers were closely associated with the nightclub in the Algonquin Hotel.

FEINSTEIN'S AT LOEWS REGENCY continues its Spring 2012 season with the return engagement of Grammy Award nominated singer and entertainer MARILYN MAYE. Her new show - "The Happiest Sound In Town" - is her annual birthday celebration and features some of her most-requested numbers including "Guess Who I Saw Today," "Bye Bye Country Boy," "Rain" and "Golden Rainbow." Another highlight of the show, "Come In From The Rain," was a personal favorite of Johnny Carson; Maye performed it many times on "The Tonight Show" at his personal invitation. Maye's recent local appearances have been received with rave reviews and full houses. The show runs through Saturday, May 5 at the Loews Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue at 61st Street). 50 solo singers have been chosen to compete in the fourth annual 'MetroStar Talent Challenge,' an eight-week, jury and audience-voted elimination-round competition that begins on Monday, July 11, at 7pm at The Metropolitan Room, 34 West 22nd Street.

The Friars Foundation is an important contributor to the Performing Arts. Academia recognizes the Friars Foundation as an upfront organization due to their activist scholarship programs. Nine universities with solid performing arts departments have granted scholarships to qualified students. Over the past decade the Friars Foundation has been responsible for 360 Performing Arts scholarships. Many of these students are now employed on Broadway, Hollywood and wherever stages are being prepared for performances.

Opera Columbus has entered into a five-year management agreement with the Columbus Association for the Performing Arts (CAPA) to provide back office services including finance, accounting, marketing, advertising, publicity, graphics, IT, ticketing, human resources, and operations functions.
