MCC Theater just celebrated opening night of Space Dogs, a new musical written by and starring Van Hughes (Burn All Night) and Nick Blaemire (Glory Days). Directed by Ellie Heyman (amfAR's Angels in America), Space Dogs will now run through Sunday March 13 at MCC Theater (511 W 52nd Street).

The Off-Broadway League has announced that Terry Byrne was elected as the new President of The Off-Broadway League. Byrne is the first female president in the nearly 60 year history of the League. The organization also announced three new additions to the Board, including Dean Carpenter, Steven Chaikelson and Casey York.

A series of improv performances through REVOLVE Detroit and a group dedicated to workshopping new work by local playwrights will begin this September. The third project is a partnership with the novelist Elizabeth Dembrowsky.

The New York Musical Theatre Festival's Next Link presentation of The Flight of the Lawnchair Man, playing from September 13th through 18th, will reunite its 2005 Goodspeed Opera cast--including Sweeney Todd's Donna Lynne Champlin--as well as much of its creative team
