Molloy College CAP 21 B.F.A. Program Presents Urinetown, The Musical

If the turning of the year is a time to think about what's important in the world - and how to challenge everything that's wrong with it - then audiences could do a lot worse than be inspired by the riotous Polly (The Heartbreak Opera) coming to Greenwich Theatre on February 14 and 15. Produced by Marie Hamilton and Sharp Teeth Theatre, the show reimagines the sequel to John Gay's The Beggar's Opera (which sees Polly Peachum heading off in search of Macheath in the West Indies where he is living as a pirate) for a 21st century audience.

Irondale Ensemble, an immersive home for theater and imaginative artist audience connections, will present The Good Soul of Szechuan, January 29-February 22 as part two of their three-part Bertolt Brecht series Brecht in Exile. Following last winter's production of The Life of Galileo, the ensemble will present the third and final installment Mother Courage and Her Children later next season in an exploration honoring and exploring Brecht's commitment to bring together both art and politics to invoke a new way of thinking.

BroadwayHD dives into the new decade with a collection of awe-inspiring and bold productions this month. Leading the roster is the 1954 classic film Brigadoon, starring Cyd Charisse and Gene Kelly, which comes to the platform on January 1. Six-time Tony Award-nominated production of Red, starring Tony Nominee Alfred Molina and Harry Potter film star Alfred Enoch, will be available starting January 9. Donmar Warehouse's contemporary and innovative all-female production of Shakespeare's Henry IV makes its way to the platform on January 16, while Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht's The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny joins on January 23. Finally, one of the greatest successes of the National Ballet of Norway, the stunning ballet Hedda Gabler, will be available on January 30.

New Light Theater Project presents Brecht: Call and Respond (an evening of three one-acts), featuring The Jewish Wife by  Bertolt Brecht with the commissioned one-acts Self Help in the Anthropocene by Kristin Idaszak and Sunset Point by Arlene Hutton.  Directed by Jerry Heymann, Brecht: Call and Respond (an evening of three one-acts) begins performances on Thursday, January 30 for a limited engagement through Saturday, February 15.  Press opening is Sunday, February 2 at 3 pm.  The performance schedule is Wednesday a?" Friday at 7:30 pm, Saturday at 2 pm & 7:30 pm, and Sunday at 3 pm. Lantern Theater Company continues the 2019/20 season with a remount of its original adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, commissioned and developed through the Lantern's New Play Program and co-created by Philadelphia-based artists Anthony Lawton, Christopher Colucci, and Thom Weaver.

'The Threepenny Opera' by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill is considered a masterpiece of 20th-century musical theatre. The UC Davis Department of Theatre and Dance will perform the 1928 work Nov. 14-23.
