Preparations for the 2018 Jimmy Awards celebrating outstanding achievement in high school theatre around the nation are well underway and BroadwayWorld was on hand to bring you all the action from rehearsals! The Jimmy Awards have just announced the industry coaches for the tenth annual awards ceremony on Monday, June 25th at 7:30PM at the Minskoff Theatre. The six coaches - Lisa Brescia, MaryAnn Hu, Adam Kantor, Howard McGillin, Natalie Weiss, And Schele Williams - will mentor the 80 high school students from across America who will compete for the Jimmy Award for Best Performance by an Actor and Actress.

On March 12, Broadway Belts for PFF! featured a "Sweet Sixteen" reunion of the Tony Award winning musical Hairspray. Broadway's Julie Halston emceed the evening, joined by Broadway stars Bryan Terrell Clark, Robert Creighton, Stephanie Gibson, Lesli Margherita and New York Yankees legend and Latin Grammy-nominee Bernie Williams.

Stephanie Gibson (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) and Chester Gregory (Motown: The Musical) will join the star-studded list of performers at this year's Broadway Belts for PFF!, hosted by Broadway's Julie Halston. This year's Broadway Belts for PFF!, hosted by Broadway's Julie Halston, will be an even bigger celebration as Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman bring together members of the original Broadway cast of Hairspray to celebrate its 'Sweet 16.' TBD Productions (Stephanie Yankwitt and Hunter Arnold, Owners) announces the official launch of TBD Casting , led by Casting Director and Co-Producer Stephanie Yankwitt and Casting Director Margaret Dunn. With a combination of over 25 years of experience in the industry, the work of this female-driven casting office spans theatre, TV, film, commercials, and web series.

BroadwayCon 2018 announced that the creators of three popular Broadway-themed web series will participate in a roundtable, From Onstage to Online , discussing the behind-the-scenes of creating their own work in the digital age. The panel is set for 3:00 PM on January 26 at the Javits Center.

Tony Moreno and Sofia Deler, two Orange County high school students from the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts's Applause Awards program won awards for Best Actor and Best Actress on Monday evening at The Jimmy Awards in New York City. Moreno and Deler competed against 72 other students from across the country for the top prize in a ceremony at Broadway's Minskoff Theatre that was hosted by 2017 Tony Award winner for Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical, Ben Platt, of Dear Evan Hansen. This is the first time in the 9-year history of the Jimmy Awards that both winners come from the same program and city.

Shea's Performing Arts Center and The Lipke Foundation are proud to have sent the Best Actress and Best Actor winners from the 24th Annual Kenny Awards to participate in The Jimmy Awards on Monday, June 26.
